In a story totally unrelated to the great golf that took place this week at East Lake Golf Club a unfortunate incident took place on Sunday.

An officer approached a vehicle at the intersection of Memorial and Green after the vehicle tried to pull into a parking lot.  When the officer put his hand inside the window the driver took off dragging the officer.  While accelerating, another officer fired and hit the driver of the vehicle.

Very unfortunate, and this story is still developing.  Info slow in coming out on this story.  I wonder if they want the news and Sports channels to cover the golf without mentioning this tonight.

More details slowly coming out about this incident.

It happened around 7pm where there was a lot of traffic and activity in the area.

The driver of the car, which was a gold Saturn was a Gerald Williams.  According to the Georgia State Patrol, charges are now pending against Williams as he is Grady Memorial Hospital with what are said to be non-life threatening injuries.

The trooper who was dragged was not seriously hurt and this investigation and story continues.
