It was one of the worst decisions Atlanta City officials could've made.

Last week, the Atlanta Police Department License and Permits unit began shutting food trucks down at the new Atlanta Food Truck Park at Howell Mill Road and I-75 on the city’s northwest side.

Now, they are finally getting back to business as usual.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution's Jon Watson details this travesty in this recent piece.

Now they are back open, and City officials are now taking credit.

A message giving City officials credit now appears here.

Thanks to the help of our friends Councilmember Kwanza Hall, the Atlanta Police Dept, City Hall and the Atlanta Street Food Coalition, your favorite food trucks are now acquiring the proper vending permits for Atlanta Food Truck Park.

Over the next couple of days more and more food trucks will make appearances at the AFTP!

We appreciate your continued support (and patience) as we confirm scheduling, expand the line-up, make exciting announcements and more!

We will are also planning a "Take Two - Grand Opening" party! Stay tuned for more details!!

Hope to see you soon!

They should never have been shut down in the first place.

Atlanta officials saw the success these truck and hard working entrepreneurs were having and wanted a piece of that pie.

I don't know if they got what they wanted, or pressure forced them to let these trucks back in business, we may never know.

It now appears permits are all in place and we should get out and show our support to these trucks.

“Over the next couple of days, more and more food trucks will make appearances,” a statement said, adding that plans are being made for a “Take Two—Grand Opening” party.

Bon appetit!
