Paris Hilton Detained in Japan

Japanese authorities are doing what U.S. authorities should've done long ago, and possibly kick her out of the country.

They are trying to decide whether she will be admitted to the country after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor drug charge in Las Vegas.

An e-mailed statement by Hilton's rep, Dawn Miller, said the 29-year-old was stopped by immigration authorities upon her arrival Tuesday in Japan.

Hilton was scheduled to appear at a news conference in Tokyo on Wednesday to promote her fashion line, but that appearance was apparently canceled.

Narita Airport's immigration office questioned Hilton "for hours" to determine if she should be allowed to enter the country, the Tokyo Regional Immigration Bureau said, according to Japan's Kyodo news agency.

Authorities adjourned questioning and asked Hilton to stay at a hotel in the airport so they could continue immigration procedures Wednesday, Kyodo reported. There was no answer at the immigration office early Wednesday morning.

Under Japanese law, immigration authorities are empowered to deny entry to those who have been convicted of drug-related offenses.

On this trip,  Paris was scheduled to visit several other countries, including Indonesia and Malaysia.

Fantasy Football Buy or Sell for Week 3

More injuries to deal with for fantasy owners.

Who would've thought the Cowboys and Vikings would be 0-2.  Hopefully your fantasy team isn't 0-2.

Here's this weeks buys:

Josh Freeman, QB Tampa Bay - Freeman has more points so far this fantasy season than Tom Brady or Tony Romo.  He's been a great surprise for owners that drafted and held onto him.  He's still a risky player going forward, but if he keeps it up the Bucs could keep rolling.

Mike Tolbert, RB San Diego - If Ryan Matthews isn't 100% look for Tolbert to keep racking up yards.  He gained 82 yards on 16 carries and scored two touchdowns against the Jaguars last week.  Pick him up now.

Mike Williams, WR Tampa Bay - If Freeman keeps going, Williams will perform as well.  Being the #1 receiver in Tampa never carried much weight, but Williams is coming into his own.

Jimmy Clausen, QB Carolina - Look at it this way, he can't be worse than Matt Moore.

And the sells:

Brett Favre, QB Minnesota - Will continue to be a sell until he is done, or resurrects his game in a big way.

Patriots D - Not good so far, and struggled against the Jets.

Reggie Bush, WR New Orleans - Going to be on the shelf for a few weeks, maybe more.

Matt Moore, QB Carolina - See Jimmy Clausen above.

Trent Edwards, QB Buffalo - It was bound to happen, he's now benched.

See you next week.

Leonard Skinner (Not the Band) Dies at 77

Leonard Skinner, the gym teacher and basketball coach whose name is forever linked with Jacksonville’s legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd, died in his sleep early Monday morning. He was 77.

His son, also named Leonard Skinner, said he found his father dead around 2:30 a.m.

Skinner was a by-the-book gym teacher at Robert E. Lee High School, his alma mater, who, in the late 1960s, sent some students to the principal’s office because their hair was too long.

Gene Odom, who worked security for the band and survived the crash of its plane in 1977, said one of the longhairs was Gary Rossington. Rossington was guitarist in a rock band that would later name itself Lynyrd Skynyrd in a smart-aleck tribute to the gym teacher.

To Mr. Skinner — known to many as “Coach” or “Big Leonard” — the incident soon passed into obscurity. He didn’t even recall the name of the long-haired student, and certainly didn’t know of an up-and-coming Southern rock band bearing a mocking version of his own name.

Years later, though, his son was listening to the band’s 1973 debut album, “Pronounced Leh-Nerd Skin-Nerd.” The younger Skinner recalled that his father was not impressed, asking him: “What the hell kind of noise are you listening to?”

Around that time, his family said, a relative called after hearing a radio show on which the band told how it had come up with its offbeat name. And so Mr. Skinner became something of a celebrity — forever having to show his ID to people who didn’t believe that Leonard Skinner was his real name.

Mr. Skinner eventually made friends with some members of the band when they came to jam at The Still, a bar the ex-coach opened on San Juan Avenue. Mr. Skinner also named a couple of bars at the Beaches after himself, capitalizing on the fame of the name.
