Did a Tornado Hit New York City?

The National Weather Service will determine if yesterday's storm was a tornado, but what is for sure is that residents across the city are cleaning up all kinds of damage.

The storm killed one woman when a tree came crashing down on her car along the Grand Central Parkway.

More than 20,000 customers remain without power, the majority in Queens. The utility restored service to 13,000 overnight.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg last night toured the damage around Corona.

“This is one of those things that while it may be an act of God, it doesn't make things any easier for us,” said Bloomberg. “People are concerned and they have every right to be concerned. The good news is that most people are safe."

The powerful winds of the storm snapped trees like twigs – sending them crashing down onto cars and power lines.

The storm also lifted roofs off of buildings.

One woman said she got the fright of her life when she saw debris flying at her car.

The severity of this storm caught everybody off guard.

The Long Island Rail Road was forced to suspend service for hours in and out of Penn Station. The station itself was closed because of overcrowding.

Limited service was operating east of Jamaica station for much of the evening. Everything is back up and running normally, including the Port Washington line, which was experiencing delays and cancellations earlier today.

Hurricane Karl More Powerful

Hurricane Karl grew to a powerful Category 3 storm as it bore down on the eastern coast of Mexico on Friday.

Forecasters at the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said Karl's top sustained winds reached Cateordy 3 status, and the storm could get stronger before making land.

A hurricane warning covered a 200-mile stretch of the eastern Mexican coast in Veracruz state from the port of Veracruz to the oil industry hub of Poza Rica.

The storm was expected to make landfall later Friday morning or early in the afternoon local time.

Kid Rock's Atlanta Trial Goes to Jury

A jury of 11 will deliberate the Kid Rock Waffle House fight case beginning Friday morning in Atlanta.

The Decatur man suing the musician said Kid Rock and his five co-defendants attacked him without warning during a fight nearly three years ago at a Buford Highway Waffle House.

Harlen Akins, 41, is the man who says he was punched and kicked repeatedly by the rocker's crew and feared for his life.

Kid Rock said his crew was in defense mode, portraying Akins as an eager agitator. "We didn't beat up [Akins]," the singer testified.

The musician stopped at the restaurant following an October 2007 performance at The Tabernacle in Atlanta. He pleaded guilty in March 2008 to a misdemeanor charge of simple battery.

Akins is seeking restitution of roughly $6,000 in medical costs plus an unspecified amount for pain and suffering. The former music promoter followed Kid Rock on the stand as testimony concluded in the three-day-long civil trial.

"Independent eyewitnesses, not once, but twice said Kid Rock started the fight," the plaintiff's attorney said. "[Kid Rock] told you if someone insults him, he'll punch him. All you have to do is be in at the wrong place at the wrong time and say the wrong thing."

'Footloose' Continues Filming in Acworth

The weather has cooperated as the filming of Paramount remake of Footloose continues in Acworth, GA.

Nighttime shooting began on Wednesday night around Downtown Acworth.  The crews do a pretty good job of keeping to themselves.  If you didn't drive by the staging areas, or the lot where the crew and extras are parking you might not even know a big budget Hollywood production is being shot in a small confined area in an old railroad town.

There are some small yellow sigs set up around the area with arrows directing the necessary vehicles where to go.

As pictured above, yellow arrow signs with a "FL" on it are used to direct people to the movie set.  Pretty clever, as most people wouldn't even think twice about seeing a sign like this.

An old car dealership is being used for overflow parking for extras and crew with their own cars.  This lot is only used for special event parking in Acworth, and anytime it is used locals know something is going on.  Also signs with red arrows saying "crew" and "extras" parking are the tip off.

I guess filming will continue through out this week and then they move on to another locale in Georgia.

Djokovic Already in Serbia for Davis Cup

He has to be tired, both physically and mentally.  Add some jet lag to the equation, and the pressure of representling your country in the Davis Cup Semi-finals.

It doesn't matter to Novak Djokovic, who is fresh off his U.S. Open loss to Raf Nadal on Monday.  He will be front and center to take on the Czechs in Belgrade.

"Yes, I am exhausted because it's not the easiest thing in the world to recover from playing the entire U.S. Open and traveling back east but I have to adjust as quickly as I can," Djokovic told a news conference after Thursday's draw.

"We can't wait for the tie to begin and I am sure I will be able to beat the fatigue because our motivation and desire to reach the final are huge," said Djokovic, who takes on Radek Stepanek in the opening singles rubber Friday.

Serbia's Janko Tipsarevic takes on Tomas Berdych in the other singles rubber Friday, while Nenad Zimonjic and Viktor Troicki face the Czech duo of Jan Hajek and Ivo Minar in Saturday's doubles.

Djokovic plays Berdych and Tipsarevic is up against Stepanek in Sunday's reverse singles.
