U.S. Open Men's Final Now Monday

Rain in New York has forced the 2010 Men's Singles Final to be pushed until Monday afternoon at 4pm.

Novak Djokovic should be stronger physically getting an extra days rest.  The question is will it be enough against the heavily favored Rafa Nadal?

Hurricane Igor Intensifies to a Category 4 Storm

Hurricane Igor quickly gained strength today as it moved toward the Caribbean, surging to a Category 4 on the five-step Saffir-Simpson intensity scale, and may add more power during the next two days.

The storm, with maximum sustained winds of 135 miles per hour, is moving west at 14 mph, the Miami-based U.S. National Hurricane Center said in its advisory. The hurricane is about 1,120 miles east of the Northern Leeward Islands, the center said. Hours earlier, at 11 a.m. New York time, the center said the hurricane’s maximum sustained winds were 105 mph.

Igor’s formation gave the 2010 Atlantic hurricane season its ninth named storm, as many as all of last year, based on data from the hurricane center. The season runs from June 1 to Nov. 30, and an average year has 11 storms with winds of at least 39 mph.

By 8 a.m. New York time on Sept. 17, Igor is expected to be north of Puerto Rico and well to the east of the Bahamas, the center said.

Week 1: NFL Play of the Week

I hate to say it but I love the Dallas Cowboys this week.  Both the line and the total should be winners.

Look for the Cowboys offense to break out against a Washington team under a new regime.  A big game for Romo and Miles Austin is on tap.

Take the Cowboys -3 1/2  and the total over 40.

U.S. Open Men's Final Prediction

 Men's Singles - Final
  Rafael Nadal(ESP)[1] vs.   Novak Djokovic(SRB)[3]

In a bit of a surprise we have Novak Djokovic in the finals.  Will his victory over Roger Federer give him the confidence he needs for the finals?  On the other hand, Nadal cruised into the finals.

Nadal has too much on the ground, and wnts this title more than anything right now.

Djokovic is just a speed bump for the Spaniard.

Nadal in 3 sets.

Clijsters Wins Third U.S. Open Crown

Belgian, Kim Clijsters feels right at home in New York.

She claimed her third U.S. Open title with a straight-sets victory over Russian Vera Zvonareva on Saturday night in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.

The No. 2 seed breezed through Zvonareva 6-2, 6-1 en route to her second straight championship.

Clijsters broke Zvonareva twice in both sets, which included taking seven consecutive points. Frustrated with how the match was quickly deteriorating, Zvonareva smashed her racket to the ground several times.

Clijsters, who also won the U.S. Open in 2005, extended her match-winning streak in New York to 21.

Before Saturday's victory, Clijsters had dropped two matches to her Russian opponent this year, both quarter-final losses at Wimbledon and the Rogers Cup in Montreal last month

Zvonareva was making her second straight Grand Slam final appearance. She lost to American Serena Williams at the Wimbledon final in July.
