Tiger Shoots 1-Under at U.S. Open

Tiger Woods began his quest for a 15th major with a 1-under-par 69 Thursday, only three shots behind the leader at the U.S. Open at San Francisco's Olympic Club.

Woods' day was good enough to tie him for second with fellow American David Toms, three strokes behind the leader Michael Thompson.

Jack Nicklaus holds the record with 18 major titles.

Golfers Behaving Badly...Apparently

Bushwood C.C. does exist...right here in Atlanta.

I know this story has been on a bunch of sites, but if you haven't seen it, it's worth a look.

Here's the link:

The Piedmont Driving Club is a very exclusive club in Atlanta.  It looks like some of the golfers at a recent member/member tournament went a little wild. (Note: after reading the letter there may be a new meaning to the "member/member" tournament)

Naked golf, mooning a rehearsal dinner, trying to hit other golfers on the green and more...

A member who heard of the shenanigans, wrote a letter to the President of the Piedmont Driving Club, outraged.

Like I said, click on the link and read it if you want a good laugh.

Remember, as my friend Courtney Capps pointed out, the member who wrote the letter didn't "see" the alleged acts, he just heard about them.

Courtney also points out that "you can't find a golf course where things like that have never happened."  I'm also drawn to the fact that the guy who wrote the letter is also researching Georgia laws.  What about the unwritten rules of golf?

If so, why is this the first we are hearing about this outside of Bushwood?

Golf "Mini Tour" Player Shoots a 55

His name is Rhein Gibson and he plays on Golfweek National Pro Tour, a mini tour in the world of golf.

And last week, he shot a 16-under par 55.

The former player at Oklahoma Christian University tore apart  the River Oaks Golf Club in Oklahoma by shooting 12 birdies and 2 eagles.

Golf historians are still checking, but it may be the lowest score ever in the history of golf.

It also appears to be legit, he playing partners are verifying it.

Even more strange, is that Gibson shot a 60 on this course a week before the 55.

When will this guy be playing a PGA Tour event.

One other observation is you don't ever want to be playing against this guy at River Oaks.

Gibson is 26 years old and he is from Australia.

You Can Go to Prom With Lexi Thompson

Have a listen:

Lexi decided to post a YouTube video asking guys in the United States military, between the ages of 18-20, to tell her why they should be her prom date.

Maybe before, after or during the prom you can get some pointers and some advice on how to hit 280 yard drives and keep them in the fairway.

May 18 is the date of her prom and you should head over to her Facebook page for all the details and sign up.

I had the chance to meet Lexi earlier this year and American golf should be proud to promote her as "the future of American women's golf."
