WGST's "The Sully Show" for 5/15/15 - The Great Outdoors

About two weeks ago, Rick was near Branson, Missouri at the Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf - a PGA Tour Champions Tour event and experiencing the Great Outdoors

Check out: www.bigcedar.com

Big Cedar Lodge features Top of the Rock - the new 9 hole, Par 3 course where the tournament will be played along with world class bass fishing, boating, archery, nature trails and Big Cedar Lodge is one of the premier resorts in the country.

Have a listen:

Technology is big in fishing and really big in professional bass fishing as Rick has covered Bassmasters events in the past.

1.  New light up lures for night fishing.  - Actiglo Lures  www.actiglolures.com

Actiglo's first completed lure is an in-line spinnerbait designed with a three- dimensional blade, weighing .2 ounces that rotates with a strong vibration through the water using a medium to quick retrieve.
The injection molded spinnerbait blades are also sold separately and are offered in several "edge-glow" colors which are luminescent underwater or a clear polymer with either silver or gold aluminum reflective; all having complementing light emitting diode illumination.

Our 2nd offering In development and being tested is our polymer spoon lure with an overall length of 41/4" and weighing 1 ounce with a sink rate in fresh water of 1 per foot per second which replicates the appearance of a dying or injured bait fish.

Our most impressive Actiglo lures being developed will incorporate our polymer lenticular technology in jigs, swimbaits, spoons, and hard bodied lures with true to life interlaced images of the desired bait fish.

Actiglo polymer lenticular lures will imitate the exact appearance of the bait fish providing iridescent scale and fin patterns and will maintain their appearance underwater no matter what conditions they are fished in.

You can see Rick's article on the best fishing near Atlanta
http://atlanta.cbslocal.com/top-lists/best-places-to-go-fishing-near-atlanta/

There are hundreds of lakes, ponds, rivers and streams in the state of Georgia that have open fishing all year. With Georgia’s great climate, fishing is popular throughout the fall and into the winter months. Before you go, you will need to purchase a fishing license from Georgia, Alabama or another bordering state. Licenses can be bought online or at an agent in your county. For the state of Georgia, they are available on www.georgiawildlife.com. With more than 500,000 acres of water available for fishing in Georgia, it’s a sport where you can get the entire family involved. Here are places near Atlanta where you have a chance to catch “the big one.”

Great fishing locations in Georgia

Lake Sydney Lanier
Gainesville, GA
(678) 696-2491
www.discoverlakelanier.com

It may be croweded to some, but the most popular lake in the state of Georgia is about 30 minutes from Atlanta and stretches 38,000 acres. Operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Lake Lanier is heavily fished by locals and tourists, but there is still plenty of fish for everyone. If you like catching striper, crappie and walleye, this should be one of your top destinations. Anglers have success with both live and artificial baits, so it’s trial and error to see what is biting. For a complete fishing experience, give Lake Lanier a try.

Reynolds Plantation

5741 St. Lake Oconee Parkway
Greensboro, GA 30642
(800) 800-5250
www.reynoldsplantation.com

Fish the “Great Waters” of Lake Oconee at one of the top resort properties in the world, Reynolds Plantation. There are many boat slips in and around Lake Oconee and Reynolds Plantation. All you need to have handy is your Georgia Fishing License. Lake Oconee is stocked with many varieties of fish, so your rod and reel will get a workout. When the fishing ends, you can play golf as Reynolds offers six fantastic championship golf courses to test your skills on. At the end of the day, you can relax at the beautiful, Ritz-Carlton Lodge at Reynolds Plantation.

Pursell Farms
386 Talladega Springs Road
Sylacauga, AL 35151
(256) 208-7600
www.pursellfarms.com

Just a little ways across the border in Alabama, you can test your angler skills at beautiful, Pursell Farms in Sylacauga, Alabama. Pursell Farms is home to the top public golf course, Farmlinks, but the property also offers plenty of great fishing. Depending on your needs, Pursell Farms offers everything from guides to rental of gear like lures, tackle boxes and reels. While it is preferred you stay at the resort, Pursell Farms offers full and half-day fishing options in a boat or on the banks. Pursell Farms is private property, so no Alabama fishing permit is required. Just come ready to fish and bring your golf clubs too.

Snowbird Mountain Lodge
4633 Santeetlah Road
Robbinsville, NC 28771
(828) 479-9290
www.snowbirdlodge.com

Snowbird Mountain Lodge is a short drive from metro Atlanta, but you will feel like you are a world away. Located right on the Cherohala Skyway in the smoky mountains, Snowbird offers endless fishing opportunities galore. In fact the USA Flyfishing Team comes here to fish. If you want to cast your line, Snowbird offers free use of fly rods as part of your stay.

WGST's "The Sully Show" for 5/8/15 - A Look at Windows 10

The Windows Build conference took place last week in San Francisco and Windows "Ignite" is taking place this week in Chicago.  All with the important task of introducing and preparing consumers for the Windows 10 release.

What's new with Windows 10...

Rick and Sully discuss...

1. Android Apps on Windows Phone

There has long been talk about Windows supporting Android and iOS apps. While Android apps will not directly translate for use on Windows-based devices, Microsoft has released a number of tools that will make it far easier for developers to port their Android and iOS apps over to Windows universal apps.

2.  Internet Explorer is on the way out...

The new browser will be "Edge"

Edge. Edge will be a much lighter-weight browser. It will make use of Cortana and support browser extensions, many of which are currently available on Chrome and Firefox.

3. New apps

New apps we have never seen before with new features will be integrated into Windows 10
Spotlight in Windows 10 will suggest apps and tools that users may not yet have used yet. Belfiore used the example of Cortana, Microsoft's voice-based virtual assistant. If a user had yet to use the feature on a fresh install of Windows 10, the system will soon recommend that he or she check it out and make that easy to with some custom buttons.

4.  Windows 10

With Windows 8 and today Windows 8.1, Microsoft tried – not entirely successfully – to deliver an operating system (OS) that could handle the needs of not only number-crunching workstations and high-end gaming rigs, but touch-controlled systems from all-in-one PCs for the family and thin-and-light notebooks down to slender tablets.

When Microsoft pulled the curtain back on Windows 10 back in September of 2014, it was clear that, with an operating system optimized for PCs, tablets and phones in unique ways, the Redmond, Wash.-based firm was onto something.

The Details:

What is it? A complete update for Windows
When is it out? Definitely summer, but likely late July 2015
What will it cost? For Windows 7 and 8.1 users, it will be free for one year

Stay tuned for more information.

Tech news..

1. Vizio's latest 4K TVs start at $600

Good news for folks looking to buy a 4K television.

Vizio is rolling out its 2015 line of Ultra HD screens. The company's new M-Series sets (above) tout full LED backlighting, speedy 802.11ac WiFi and a six-core processor starting at $600 for a 43-inch model -- not bad considering that even regular HDTVs cost more just a couple of years ago

2.  World's Oldest Stone Tools Discovered In Kenya

Researchers say they have found the oldest tools made by human ancestors—stone flakes dated to 3.3 million years ago. That's 700,000 years older than the oldest-known tools to date, suggesting that our ancestors were crafting tools several hundred thousand years before our genus Homo arrived on the scene. If correct, the new evidence could confirm disputed claims for very early tool use.

3. 50 years of Moore's law - celebrated this week...

Moore’s Law turns 50 this coming week — making this an opportune time to revisit Gordon Moore’s classic prediction.

"Moore's law" is the observation that, over the history of computing hardware, the number of transistors in a dense integrated circuit has doubled approximately every two years.

Can Moore's Law stay relevant?
The prediction has proven to be accurate, in part because the law now is used in the semiconductor industry to guide long-term planning and to set targets for research and development.
