For much of 2012, I did the segment on Dave-FM before they switched over to The Game.  I was on "The Steve Show" with Steve Craig.

Going to be doing some cooking for Thanksgiving or the holidays?
Here are some cool new kitchen gadgets you might be able to put to good use...

1.   iDevices Smart Thermometer

A Bluetooth thermometer and an app can take all the guess work out of cooking meat? The home chef on your list will love the latest offering from iDevices. The smart thermometer will monitor your chicken, pork, turkey or roast and then lets you know, via an app on your smartphone or tablet, when it it ready to take out of the oven. This not only ensures safe cooking, but also safe dining as there is no chance your meat will be undercooked. The IDevices Smart Thermometer is available at www.idevicesinc.com for $79.99 and a mini version without an illuminated display is $39.99.

2. Nutri Ninja

- A blender/extractor

With 21,000 RPMs in combination with 900 watts of power, you can now create fast, easy and healthy nutrient-complete juices to enjoy on the go.

Household appliances are supposed to transform our lives in one way or another.

They should either make routine tasks easier and less complicated or enable one to lead a more healthy lifestyle. The Nutri Ninja blender does all of that and more.

All with a price tag that comes in at under $100.
Blending, juicing, extracting... all words that are used when talking about mixers and blenders, but what should a health-conscious person be looking for in small appliance that has to make nutrient-rich juices?

The Secret to the Nutri Ninja™

CEO, Mark Rosenzweig says it's the high blade speed, the blade itself, being an Pro Extractor Blade and the power that the Nutri Ninja generates.

What traditional blenders sometimes lack in their features. With the Nutri Ninja™ you can get a smooth, even consistency with the most fiberous fruits and vegetables.”

3. Butterball Electric Turkey Fryer

The Butterball electric turkey fryer is a safe way to fry your turkey indoors. Turkey fryer fires happen because the oil overheats and the equipment is over-filled. The Butterball electric turkey fryer lets you know how much oil to add, maintains the temperature of the oil, and never overheats. The turkey fryer also cuts down on time, allowing you to cook a 15 pound turkey in about an hour.

You can get a Butterball electric turkey fryer at Meijer, Home Depot, Lowe’s, or online at www.masterbuilt.com.

Or $90 on Amazon

4.  Whisky Elements  - if you are looking for a different flavored drink for Thanksgiving

Oregon start-up company Time and Oak created Whiskey Elements, which are basically small sticks of wood that have been charred to create a smoky aroma and - when dropped in a bottle of whiskey for a day - better-tasting booze.

It adds a woodsy taste, similar to what you get from top-shelf brands from flyover states. Pleasant neat. With ice, any alcohol burn was negligible, and the woodsy flavor was still there.

Price: $10 for two, available at timeandoak.com.

5. Progressive Collapsible Pie Carrier

It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without a couple of holiday pies. Whether your family is craving pumpkin, Dutch apple or mixed berry, you can use the Progressive International Collapsible Pie Carrier to haul around dessert. The carrier holds two nine inch pies or one large meringue, and can even double as a deviled egg carrier. Now that’s something to be thankful for!

Price: $25

* App of the week:
Thanksgiving Menu Maker

Free app

Most dinners on Thanksgiving have the old standbys. Switch it up a little with Thanksgiving Menu Maker, which lets you plan out your dinner with just a few taps. This app contains 75 recipes and it has a great price: free! All recipes are broken down into categories and you simply add the dishes you wish to make.

A shopping list is then automatically created. The killer feature is the planner section. This area breaks prep down to the day before, Thanksgiving morning, four hours prior, etc. Finally, you can learn techniques from how-to videos within the app. If you use this app, you'll have a four course meal planned in minutes.
