Google Doodle for Mother's Day

A very cool and appropriate Google Doodle today as the O's give the G a flower and hugs.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mothers out there.

Google Honors the Zipper

Actually the "Father of the Zipper", Gideon Sundback is the subject of today's Google Doodle.

I have to admit, I did the double take the first time I saw it today.

And yes, you can pull the zipper...

They're Creepy and They're Kooky...

I didn't find them that spooky, but... Google is celebrating the 100th birthday of Addams Family creator Charles Addams with a doodle featuring the famously spooky family.

To celebrate is the entire Addams family—Morticia, Gomez, Cousin It, Pugsley, Wednesday, Lurch, and Uncle Fester. They are drawn in black and white and shown standing in front of their mansion and the Google logo.

Check it out.

Google Doodle Marks Lucy's 100th Birthday

We all really do love Lucy!

Now, Google presents one of its greatest "Doodles" ever.

Today, to celebrate Lucille Ball’s 100th birthday, Google has cooked up an interactive home-page logo: a vintage TV set that plays seven classic clips from "I Love Lucy."

Where the words "I Love Lucy" typically appear, the heart-enclosed script lettering spells out "Google," Click "play" and the TV set offers a time-travel tribute.

Lucy was an American treasure and Google is keeping the memories alive.

Lucille Ball died in April of 1989, at age 77.

Les Paul Honored With Today's Google Doodle

On what would be Les Paul's 96th birthday, Google rolled out what has already been called, the coolest Doodle ever. Visit the Google homepage -- you have less than 14 hours left before it's replaced by the standard logo or a new design -- and you can play the interactive Doodle with your mouse. Google will even allow you to record a song up to 30 seconds long that will live at a unique URL you can share with friends.

We've seen dancing Doodles, animated Doodles, Doodles that you could zoom in on and discover Easter eggs hidden throughout, but nothing like this before. It stretches the idea of what a Doodle is. It's hard, now, to define a Google Doodle as an illustration or a graphic; the team responsible for creating these has taken full advantage of their digital platform.

Born on this day in 1915, Les Paul is considered the father of the electric guitar.
