Despite Collapse, Tiger Woods Favored at British Open

Tiger Woods remains the oddsmakers’ favorite to capture next month’s British Open even though he isn’t among the 15 different players who have won golf’s past 15 major championships.

Woods’s drought in the four majors has reached four years after tying for 21st place at the U.S. Open in San Francisco, his worst four-round finish at the tournament. His next chance to get within three of Jack Nicklaus’s record 18 Grand Slam titles will be at the July 19-22 British Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club in northwest England.

Woods, 36, is listed as the 10-1 favorite for the season’s third major, according to the Las Vegas Hotel and Casino’s sports book. While Woods hasn’t won a major since the 2008 U.S. Open, he remains popular with bettors. Woods last week had “by far the most money on him,” according to Jeff Sherman, LVH’s assistant sports book manager.

Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy and England’s Lee Westwood are tied as the second choice at 12-1. Englishman Luke Donald, who’s No. 1 in golf’s Official World Ranking, has 20-1 odds to win his first major championship.

Phil Mickelson has 30-1 odds to win the British Open, tied with Justin Rose, Sergio Garcia, Martin Kaymer, Rickie Fowler, Jason Dufner, Graeme McDowell and Padraig Harrington.

Joe DeSantis Flies off an NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle at 180+ MPH

This might be the scariest thing you see this Halloween Weekend.

Joe DeSantis loses control of his Pro Stock Motorcycle bike at Las Vegas Motor Speedway during NHRA qualifying.

He slides, he rolls, he tumbles and he walks away?  You have to be kidding me!  He injures only his wrist.  He's taken to the medical center.  My wife and I are amazed at the drivers in NHRA, but particularly the Pro Stock Motorcycle drivers.  They are going at high speeds and have no protection other than a helmet.  Joe appears to have been very lucky.

College Bowl Play of the Day: MAACO Bowl

The MAACO Bowl tonight has one of the best matchups of the year.  I don't think Boise St. and Utah thought they would be playing in a bowl game on December 22, at the beginning of the year.

But here they are playing in the MAACO Bowl in Las Vegas.

Boise is favored by 17, at first glance that may seem like too many, but when you look at the meat and potatoes of each team, I'm not sure how Utah is going to stop Boise's passing attack.

The Utes will be without starting quarterback Jordan Wynn, who is out because of a shoulder injury. Senior Terrance Cain is a capable backup, but to beat Boise, Utah needs to be at full strength.

Led by quarterback Kellen Moore, and the fact that the Broncos are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 Bowl games, I have to say take Boise and lay the 17.

Byrd Wins PGA Event Playoff with an Ace

Truely amazing!

On Sunday, American golfer Jonathon Byrd became the first golfer to win a PGA Tour title with a hole-in-one.

Byrd aced the par-three 17th with the opening shot of the fourth hole of a three-man playoff to triumph at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

It was only his second hole-in-one during a tournament, but he managed the feat at the par-four 15th hole on the same TPC Summerlin course during a practice round earlier in his career.

Byrd's opponents Martin Laird and Cameron Percy shook his hand after he nailed his six-iron tee shot -- then both found water with their attempts to match his feat into the water to give him the $756,000 winner's prize.  A lucky, but a great shot.

More Drug Problems for Paris Hilton

The question is, can she get out of this one?

Police say Paris Hilton has been arrested for possession of cocaine after officers stopped the car she was in on a Las Vegas street late Friday night.

Hilton was booked into the Clark County Detention Center early Saturday morning on a charge of possession of cocaine.

He says she was in a car driven by a friend that was stopped when officers noticed what they suspected to be marijuana smoke coming from it.

Martin says that during the stop officers found what appeared to be a controlled substance on Hilton and tests showed that it was cocaine.

Recently Hilton had drug related issuses at the World Cup in South Africa, and at the airport in Corsica.
