Fantasy Golf Buy, Sell or Hold for John Deere Classic

While some players have the British Open on their mind this week, others are still state side for one of the best run events on tour, The John Deere Classic.

It is played each and every year at the TPC at Deere Run in Silvis, IL.  It seems more and more golfers are playing the John Deere before they head to Britain, and they all have a good time.

Two-time defending champ Steve Stricker is back before he heads across the pond.  Also expected to tee it are reigning British Open champion Louis Oosthuizen, Davis Love III, Stewart Cink and Jason Day.

Can Stricker three-peat?  Here is this week's buy, sell and hold.

Buy:

Brian Gay (A) - Gay is having a great season and should show well here.  He hasn't played here since a T-12 in 2008.

Steve Marino (A) - Marino could get real hot and go low here.

Steve Stricker (B) - How can you not go with the two-time defending champ?

Chris Riley (B) - No shame in going with this veteran golfer who had three solid rounds at the AT&T,

Vaughn Taylor (B) - Taylor is having a nice year and he finished T-7 here in 2010.

Jason Day (C) - A solid C-level pick.  He finished T-15 last year.

Charles Howell III (C) - Howell's game may be finally coming around and he likes this course and event.

Sell:

Michael Sim (A) - Has made only 3 cuts in 2011.

Todd Hamilton (B) - Has made only 3 cuts in 2011.

Rich Beem (C) - This may sound like a broken record, but he has made only 3 cuts in 2011.

Hold:

David Toms (B) - Is having a good year and should play well on this course.  A little risky, but usually a safe play.

Check back for our "flyer" of the week.

Fantasy Golf: Buy, Sell or Hold for The Players Championship

Listen!

To the players and the tour, it's the 5th biggest tournament on schedule.

As usual, the TPC at Sawgrass is the venue, and we'll be seeing a lot of that island green at the 17th this week.

Tim Clark is the defending champ this week. but most of the attention will be focused on one Tiger Woods who returns to competitive action this week following some minor surgery.

It's always a strong field here, and this tournament is hard to predict.

I'm going to do the buy, sell and hold a little differently this week.  I'm just going to give a one word description following my picks and we'll see how that goes and what people make of it.

Should be a fun week, here's the buy, sell and hold.

Buy:

Phil Mickelson (A) - Favorite

Matt Kuchar (A) - Steady

Steve Stricker (B) - Good

Webb Simpson (B) - Trending

J.J. Henry (B) - Power

Chris Couch (C) - Solid

Sergio Garcia (C) - Dedicated

Sell:

Ernie Els (A) - Off

Ben Curtis (B) - Slump

Joe Durant (C) - Wreck

Hold:

Bubba Watson (B) - Tough

Fantasy Golf Buy, Sell or Hold for the Valero Texas Open

 Listen!

The Masters is in the books and it's back off to Texas for the Valero Texas Open

Many of the top players will be absent this week as it is the week following a major.

Adam Scott is the defending champ and the likes of Anthony Kim, Geoff Ogilvy, and Ryan Palmer are in the field at the TPC of San Antonio.

Here is this week's buy, sell and hold:

Buy:

Geoff Ogilvy (A) - Played well at Augusta and is a solid pick this week.  Look for him to be in the mix on Sunday.

Brian Gay (A) - Gay plays a lot of events, so it's no surprise he's playing here.  He also plays well in Texas.  has 2 top-10's this year.

J.J. Henry (B) - 10 events in 2011 and he hasn't missed a cut.  He had a MC here last year, but played ok here in 2009.

Vaughn Taylor (B) - He's playing well with the exception of final rounds.  Not sure if he is getting tired or what.  He made the cut here in 2010, but I expect a top-10 from him this week.

Scott Verplank (C) - A lot of good C-level possibilities this week.  Verplank is coming off a T-2 in Houston and he plays well in Texas events.  His game is rounding into shape.

Fredrik Jacobson (C) - Jacobson is playing well and finished second here last year.  He's a must play this week.

Sell:

Matt McQuillan (C) - This Canadian golfer has come nowhere close to making a cut since January.

Bio Kim (C) - I love the name, but his results are all over the place.  He has a T-21 at Pebble and a T-11 in Puerto Rico.  Other than that all missed cuts.

Charlie Hoffman (A) - Hoffman is not having one of his better year.  Not a good play right now.

Ryuji Imada (B) - He is missing cuts badly.  Don't think about taking him until he gets his game straightened out.

Hold

Anthony Kim (C) - You never know what to expect from Kim, but he's a C-level selection and has a top-10 this year.  He's close to getting his game back and may be ready to contend this week.

Good luck this week, and be sure to check out our AudioBoo for the "flyer" of the week.
