Play began on Saturday at Atlantic Station and the BB&T Atlanta Open
The 2016 installment of the BB&T Atlanta Open, an ATP World Tour 250 event opened this week with the Wildcard Challenge. This meant four players with local ties were vying for one remaining spot in the BB&T Singles Qualifying Draw.
The play was excellent and took place on the BB&T Atlanta Open practice courts at Atlantic Station.
John Isner played Davis Cup in Oregon last week, but his big summer of tennis on the ATP Tour officially strted on Wednesday.
The top seed breezed into the third round of the ATP Washington Open on Wednesday.
Isner, coming off heartbreaking Wimbledon and Davis Cup defeats, fired 14 aces and dropped only three points on his first serve in a 6-3, 6-4 romp over Australian qualifier James Duckworth.
Isner has Canada, Atlanta and Cincinnati upcoming on his schedule before the U.S. Open.
