Walmart with a HP Laptop for $298

The pre Black Friday sales are up and running.  Walmart enters the fray with a strong showing a $298 HP laptop.  Not a netbook, but a 15.6" screen laptop.

The tech specs for the laptop include:

  • Intel Celeron 900 (2.2GHz, 1MB cache, 800MHz FSB)
  • Windows 7 Home Premium
  • 3072MB DDR2 System Memory
  • 250GB(5400rpm) Hard Drive
  • 802.11b/g WLAN
  • LightScribe SuperMulti 8x DVD +-R/RW Drive w/Double Layer Support
  • 15.6" Diagonal High-Definition HP BrightView display
  • Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M with up to 1309MB total available memory
  • 3 USB 2.0 Ports
  •

Not a powerhouse laptop by any means since it has an outdated Celeron processor, but a good starter computer or one for kids.  It does come with Windows 7, which is a plus.  On a side not Walmart also has an Acer laptop this week with a Dual-Core processor for $348.  $298 for a HP laptop, I guess you can't go wrong.

Sales starts Saturday at 8am, and each Walmore will have at least 10, good luck.

Guilty Pleasure: The Real Housewives of Orange County

It's back for Season 5.  All the suspects from Season 4 are signed on for Season 5.  By watching episode 1 it looks like many arguments and obstacles to overcome.

Also that idiot Slade from previous seasons returned as Gretchen's new boyfriend.  The previews for the season show a new housewife joining at some point.  Tune in Thursday nights.

Man in breathalyzer costume cited for DUI

James P. Miller a 20 year old man from Oxford, OH was cited by oxford police for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, underage possession of alcohol, having an open container and a fake ID, and a one-way street violation on Halloween Night.

The kicker is that Miller was dressed as a breathalyzer machine and was leaving a Halloween party.  Miller blew 0.158 percent on a real Breathalyzer test, hopefully nobody blew into the tube on his lame costume.

    The World Anti-Doping Code

Want to settle down and relax by the fireplace with a nice easy read?  Well, this isn't it, but if you are curious at all about the process and rules behind drug testing in sports and the anti-doping code here it is.

It covers everything from the urine collection equipment to what is the minimum sample amount required for urine samples.  I'm sure if I were a world class athlete this would be required reading.

Here's a sample from the section on minors who have to take a drug test:

In addition to the Sample Collection Personnel, a chaparone may be present during the Sample Collection Session, namely a Minor

s representative to observe the Sample Collection Session (including observing the DCO when the Minor is giving the Sample, but not to directly observe the passing of the urine Sample. The representative, is to observe the DCO/Chaperone when a sample of urine is given (unless requested to do so by the Minor) and the DCOs/Chaperones Minor is passing a Sample, but without the representative directly observing the passing Sample unless requested by the Minor to do so. unless requested to do so by the Minor) and the DCOs/Chaperones Minor is passing a Sample, but without the representative directly observing the passing Sample unless requested by the Minor to do so.unless requested to do so by the Minor) and the DCOs/Chaperones Minor is passing a Sample, but without the representative directly observing the passing Sample unless requested by the Minor to do so.

Thrilling reading if I may say so, but with constant talk of failed drug or doping tests I felt this was relevant.
