Get a mini digital camcorder for $30

I heard rumors about a $30 mini camcorder from Coby on a few podcasts, so I had to check it out for myself.

The rumors are true. The Coby Cam 3000 is the pocket sized mini digital camcorder you can take with you anywhere you go.  As a cost of $30, you don't have to worry about losing a valuable piece of hardware, but you have a device that is both durable and powerful.

A 1.44 inch LCD color display is what you view through.  The picture is crisp and clear, the 4x digital zoom isn't much, but it works and for this price it's kind of a bonus.  The battery  gives you 4 hours plus of battery life, perfect for the day trip to the beach or the family get together.

The 32mb of internal memory is not adequate, but you can use removable SD cards up to 8gb for recording and easy transfer to your PC.

The Coby 3000 comes with both a USB cable and an AV cable should you choose to use them.  It is available in only one color, black.

I bet when I mentioned you could get a mini digital camcorder for $30 you were skeptical?  I was, then I saw this device and the results it produces.  It's easy to use, the videos you shoot look like they came from a much more expensive camera.  For the $30 price this would be great to give to your kids and let them shoot away.

The Coby Cam 3000 is available for about $30 at many places on the internet.  You can't go wrong for $30.

Summer's Over as Cold Weather hits the Nation

Looks like Fall is in the air as a cold weather front sweeps across the country and into the Great Lakes region and points east.

Some snowfall is expected in parts of Nebraska and Iowa.  Freezing temperatures will enter Missouri and Ohio.  Game 3 of the Phillies / Rockies Playoff Series was postponed Saturday due to inclement weather.  After the record low temperatures Saturday in  Denver the forecast for Sunday is a balmy 50 degrees.

A Final Release from Dan Fogelberg

Dan Fogelberg may have left us on December 16, 2007, but his music will live on and on.  A final album was recently released by Dan Fogelberg's Wife and Full Moon Records.

A bestseller currently on rock and pop charts, Dan would've loved to know he had another hit album.  Fogelberg put this collection of songs together after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2004.  "Love in Time" contains three new songs and previously unrecorded demos he had saved from earlier in his career.

"Love in Time" will surely be appreciated by Fogelberg's fans and music fans in general, since the music contains bits and pieces of blues, country rock, and his specialty ballads.  Pay specific attention to "Days to Come", this song could've been a mega hit in the 70's and might've been recorded by The Eagles, Jackson Browne, or America.  Fogelberg kept the song for himself and the results are great.

Enjoy this encore by a man who was inspired by "the leader of the band" and gives us this living legacy.

An Interesting Read: Tennis Pro - Conor Pollock's Site

If you are looking for something a little different to follow from the normal "name" pros that Tweet, are on television every week, or that get press in major newspapers before every tournament, you might want to take a look at and follow an up and coming pro from America named Conor Pollock.

This may be the first time you have ever heard this name, and it could be the last.  With just 4 Futures tournaments under his belt and a current world ranking of  #1439.  Yes the ATP rankings do go that high and higher.

Conor is a rarity in professional tennis, a college graduate.  With a degree and from Texas A&M, and a desire to make it as a pro starting at the bottom, Conor blogs often, or as often as he can and in some cases it appears he has a friend posting for him.  I'm sure he doesn't have a full time intern like Sam Querrey.

Since he has only played in 4 events there are only a few posts, but the last post comes from a Futures event in Mexico where he is currently playing.

Conor is not living a glamorous life at this point and I hope he gives professional tennis a fair shot and keeps us updated along the way.  He mentions a trip to a USTA Training Camp and working wih former top 10 player Jay Berger.  So he is getting some help from the USTA.

Good luck to Conor, he's not getting wildcards into the grand slams, if he is going to make it, he will have really earned it, and it will be a long road with the odds against him  Follow his site at: http://www.conorpollock.net/

NHRA Bids a Fond Farewell to Richmond

This weekend in tiny Dinwiddie, VA outside of Richmond,  The NHRA will make it's last stop, at least for the near future with the running of The NHRA Virginia Nationals.

It's a bad break for Richmond, which over the past couple years has lost a Triple A Baseball team, an IRL Race and a minor league hockey team.  You can't blame racing and sports fans in Richmond to be a little down right now.  This is the second time The NHRA has abandoned Richmond.  The consolation prize is The IHRA will move a race to Virginia Motorsport Park in 2010.

NHRA officials replaced the Richmond sport with a second race at the newest track in drag racing located in Charlotte.  You can't blame The NHRA, Charlotte is a hot racing and sports market and a second race in Charlotte stands to be more lucrative than a fall race at Richmond.

The NHRA and VMS officials have left the door open for a possible return down the road.  If The NHRA adds an additional race, or another race has to relocate, Richmond will welcome The NHRA and it's stars like John Force, Tony Schumacher, and Ron Capps back with open arms.

In the meantime, there is a lot to be decided this race weekend in Richmond.
