Iowa State may get their Independence

The Iowa State Football Team got their 6th win of the season yesterday with a victory over Colorado.  6 wins means they are bowl eligible, but not assured of one.

Last season four teams with 6 victories did not get bowl bids:   San Jose State, Bowling Green, Arkansas State and Louisiana-Lafayette.  None of these schools are in a major conference or have fans that travel like Iowa State.

There is no way Iowa State gets passed over for a bowl game even if they lose next week at Missouri.  More than likely The Cyclones are headed to Shreveport for The Independence Bowl.

This year the annual game in Shreveport, LA is sponsored by Advocare 100.  I was there when Iowa State lost by an eyelash to Alabama.  The game then was sponsored by Mainstay.  A team like Iowa State could do worse than Shreveport.  The people are welcoming, there are casinos and nice hotels.  In short, they put on a good show.  How about an Iowa State vs. Auburn or Georgia matchup?

Could be great momentem heading into 2010, under the guidance of a head coach that WANTS to be at Iowa State.
