10.10.10

10.10.10 comes around once a century. Is there anything more to this day?

Many view 10.10.10 as a special day to begin new ventures, but religious groups said the numbers did not bear any spiritual significance.

Chandra Dass, a follower of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, said 10.10.10 was seen as an auspicious day with business establishments wanting to make a move to boost revenue.

It depends on how an individual perceived 10.10.10, adding that while some might look at it as unique, others might not give much thought to the date.

Computer security firm Sophos has shot down rumors that a "10/10/10" virus will strike computers at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday -- October 10, 2010.

"It's just the kind of scare that people love to murmur about, and share with their online friends, but I'm afraid it has no basis in fact," Sophos' Graham Cluley wrote in a blog post. Computer viruses happen every day of the year.

The climate action group 350.org is organizing a "global work party" for the planet. The idea is simple: Thousands of small projects can make for big changes.

And there are indeed thousands of projects, if not tens of thousands, lined up. At the projects homepage,

Some of the unique happenings on 10.10.10.
