Venue Taking Shape for Atlanta Tennis Championships

I don't think anyone can say enough about the Atlanta Athletic Club and the way they go about hosting big events.  It doesn't matter whether it's tennis or golf, the club is first class all the way.

They may be hosting the 2011 PGA Championships, but first they are rolling out the red carpet for the tennis world as hosts of the 2010 Atlanta Tennis Championships.  I got a look at the tournament venue today and it looks similar to the setup utilized for former ATP events held at the club back in the 1990's.

Two changes visible to the naked eye are the addition of one more show court, and now the hard-tru clay we all remember are hardcourts.  The courts look perfect, the bleachers are going up and a world-class field is on their way to Atlanta.  The stadium court should be rocking, and we can all hope for a nice cool breeze.

The tourney starts July 17 with qualifying, and there are tons of special events planned for the week along with the tennis.
