Atlanta Tennis Championships: Roddick Advances

It was a tough struggle on a hot day in Atlanta, but #1 seed Andy Roddick advanced with a 3-set victory over Rajeev Ram.  Roddick relied on his serve and fitness to outlast the net charging Ram.

Roddick will play #7 seed Xavier Malisse of Belgium in the quarters tomorrow night.

Also advancing today was the big serving South African, Kevin Anderson who beat local favorite Donald Young.

In the upset of the tournament so far, Lukas Lacko defeated Lleyton Hewitt in straight sets.

In doubles action, the American team of Blake and Isner advanced to the semi-finals with a 2-set win.

A big quarterfinal day is on tap for tomorrow.  ESPN2 and Tennis Channel will be providing coverage.
