Florida Neighborhood Dealing With Dirty Diapers

Usually the main problems facing sub-divisions in Florida are motorists driving too fast, people signing up for too much time on club tennis court schedule, and the occasional gator on the loose.  So the current situation facing one Florida neighborhood is quite unique.

People who live in the Lake Mary Hills subdivision in Lake Mary, Fl are calling it the work of the "Diaper Bandit."

Diapers are appearing in bunches and bunches. Marie Beckler says she sees new ones dumped in the neighborhood nearly every morning.

"When I walk the dogs I see diapers in the middle of the street. Dirty diapers just kind of rolled up," she says.

The dirty and smelly work has been going on anywhere from five months to three years, depending on whom you talk to to.

Hundreds of adult diapers have been dumped on their streets and in their yards and nobody knows where they are coming from.

Invariably, someone cleans the diapers up. But the neighbors are sick of it, and want Lake Mary police to do something to stop it.

The police say they are aware of the situation and are looking into it. But they say they do not have any suspects. If someone is caught, they will be charged with a misdemeanor at worst. More than likely, all the person will get is a ticket. Beckler has another idea.

"I don't wanna say put 'em in jail. It's not that bad of a deal. I think they should maybe have to come clean up the neighborhood." she says.

I would have to guess the diapers are coming from one of the many nursing homes or assisted living facilities in the area.  That's where they should start, and get to the "bottom" of it.
