Buffalo Appears in Georgia Swimming Pool

Over the last year, residents in Atlanta and North Georgia in general have seen their share of animals in places where they shouldn't be.

From zebras on the interstate, to bison roaming the city streets, we now have a buffalo sighting at a swimming pool in North Georgia.

Video is here:

A White County, GA couple  said they noticed two holes in the pool's cover and went outside to take a look, Atlanta's Channel 2 Action News reported. That's when the couple noticed something moving.

After pulling the pool cover back, they saw the huge animal. It was a buffalo that apparently had recently escaped from a neighbor's home.

I feel cheated, all my neighbor has is a poodle name Shayna.

Everything's Just "Ducky" at Oregon

Fresh off its 60-13 win over UCLA last Thursday night, Oregon remained the top team in the new Associated Press Top 25 poll released Sunday.

Meanwhile, Auburn moved up two spots to No. 3 after its win over LSU Saturday. Boise State remained at No. 2 after having this past weekend off. Auburn does hold a slight lead in the BCS standings but that can and will change on a weekly basis.

The big move in the poll came from Missouri, which jumped 11 spots to No. 7 after the Tigers knocked off Oklahoma in Columbia.

Oregon received 44 first-place votes, Boise State had 11.

How the BCS sees the Ducks could be another story. The six BCS computers haven't been very impressed with the quality of Oregon's competition through the first seven games of the season. The Ducks' computer ranking -- which is one-third of the formula the BCS uses to determine its standings -- stood at eighth last week.

Pounding a weak UCLA team probably isn't going to impress the computers. The Bruins have lost four Pacific-10 Conference games, three by four touchdowns or more. Their one marquee win, a 34-12 victory at Texas, looks a little less impressive every week Iowa State beat those same Longhorns on Saturday.

Auburn, which knocked off previously unbeaten LSU, is going to be a factor. Auburn does have difficult games with Georgia and Alabama remaining as well as a possible SEC Championship game.

Oregon's strength of schedule picks up as the second half of the season continues. If the Ducks keep winning, they should be sitting pretty.

The next five games will be a mixed bag. Beginning with Saturday against USC in the Los Angeles Coliseum. Arizona and Cal both signaled they are going to be tough hurdles with one-sided victories yesterday, and winning at Oregon State in the Civil War won't be easy.

I like Oregon's chances and the way they go about their business.

'Paranormal Activity 2' Scares its Way to #1 at the Box Office

The news is good for Paranormal Activity 2 as it entered theaters at the top of this weekend's box office. The highly-anticipated follow-up to the low-budget 2007 horror smash stuck to the practical effects and improvisational style of its predecessor. The movie continues the series' tradition of pulling in major bucks as well, making $41.5 million since landing in theaters Friday.  Not too shabby for a film that only cost $3 million to make.

The combination of being released in close proximity to Halloween and the lack of good horror flicks recently had to propel Paranormal 2 to the top.

It also set the record for the largest three-day opening for a horror film, creeping past Friday the 13th‘s $40.6 million tally from last year. Although Paranormal 2 dropped 35 percent from Friday to Saturday, the haunted-house flick got enough people to storm out of their homes and into movie theaters for a whopping $20.1 million on Friday (including $6.3 million from Thursday midnight showings). The movie also easily surpassed its predecessor’s wide-release opening of $21.1 million.

According to Paramount, 61 percent of the audience was less than 25 years old, that usually means success for a horror movie.  How lonf until we see Paranormal 3?

'The Amazing Race' drar til Norway

Actually The Amazing Race goes to Norway this week to say it in Englsih.

It's mind over matter week on CBS’ The Amazing Race. Teams race from Sweden to Norway Sunday for the fifth leg of the Emmy Award winning reality show where strong girl teams Nat/ Kat and Brook/ Claire  try to complete tasks that they would rather not do.

Claire must face her fear of heights when she agrees to perform a Roadblock in which she must descend from a high bridge to the river below using ropes suspended from the bridge. At the Detour Kat, a vegetarian, and Nat must each consume a Christmas Norwegian delicacy: smalahove (sheep’s head) before they will receive their next clue.  Ouch!

Looks like another great episode of The Amazing Race.  Tonight on CBS at 8pm Eastern.

Tropical Storm/Hurricane Richard on the Move

With maximum sustained winds of 85 mph, Richard was centred about 95 miles east of Belize City, said the US National Hurricane Center (NHC).

Wind and rain from the 10th storm of the hurricane season have already battered Honduras' Caribbean coast.

Richard is moving north-west at about 12mph.  The Miami-based NHC forecasts it will cross Belize and southeastern Mexico later on Sunday, crossing the Yucatan peninsula before reaching the south-western Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday.

Mexican fishermen have already been evacuating the Yucatan peninsula.

A hurricane warning is in effect for the west coasts of Belize and Honduras.

The NHC warned a storm surge would raise water levels along the northern coasts of Belize and Honduras by as much as five feet, adding that this would be accompanied by "large and destructive waves".

Honduras could expect up to two inches of rain.
