Windows Weekly "Jumps the Shark"

While some might accuse Paul Thurrott of being a puppet for Microsoft, he showed he's a good sport and appeared on this week's Windows Weekly with a couple puppets.

Leo Laporte and Thurrott usually discuss the latest Microsoft happenings by themselves, but this week they were joined briefly by Walt Mosspuppet.

While they were having a fun exchange of words, Leo somehow turned into his alter ego, Leo Lapuppet.

I have to say, adding Mosspuppet to a serious show like Windows Weekly added a bit of humor and was the highlight of the show this week.  Paul and Leo love to use the term "jump the shark" on the show for other podcasts and television shows that have run their course.  With Windows 7 Phone coming out in a matter of days, they are not lacking for Microsoft news or stories.

Kudos for Paul and Leo injecting some humor to a show that sometimes drags with talk of servers and things like Microsoft Security Essentials.

'The Amazing Race' Remains in Ghana

Last week The Amazing Race had an amazing show in the African country of Ghana.  The teams competing appeared to be in awe as we all were watching all the action.

This week they continue to race in Ghana.  The third leg airs tonight and I'm sure we can expect the unexpected.

The nine remaining teams have to put up with some rough conditions and heat exhaustion.  One of the competitors appears to need some medical attention at some point.

The teams have been racing on adrenaline these first two legs since leaving the United States.  Fatigue will start setting in at this point, and teams have to be mindful of who does the challenges and make sure they read their instructions very carefully.

To this point the teams of Brook and Claire as well as Jill and Thomas have impressed me the most.

It's anyone's race at this point, and it only gets tougher from here.

Week 5: NFL Play of the Week

The Chargers are an inconsistent team, and my NFL picks have been consistent so far this season, consistently awful.

San Diego goes on the road to Oakland today to take on the Raiders.  They are only laying 6 1/2 to another bad Raiders team.  Should be an easy cover for P. Rivers and Co.

I also like the total in this game at 45.  Go with the under as I don't see Oakland putting many points on the board.

Take the Chargers and the under to win big today.

10.10.10

10.10.10 comes around once a century. Is there anything more to this day?

Many view 10.10.10 as a special day to begin new ventures, but religious groups said the numbers did not bear any spiritual significance.

Chandra Dass, a follower of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, said 10.10.10 was seen as an auspicious day with business establishments wanting to make a move to boost revenue.

It depends on how an individual perceived 10.10.10, adding that while some might look at it as unique, others might not give much thought to the date.

Computer security firm Sophos has shot down rumors that a "10/10/10" virus will strike computers at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday -- October 10, 2010.

"It's just the kind of scare that people love to murmur about, and share with their online friends, but I'm afraid it has no basis in fact," Sophos' Graham Cluley wrote in a blog post. Computer viruses happen every day of the year.

The climate action group 350.org is organizing a "global work party" for the planet. The idea is simple: Thousands of small projects can make for big changes.

And there are indeed thousands of projects, if not tens of thousands, lined up. At the projects homepage,

Some of the unique happenings on 10.10.10.

NHRA: Ashley Force-Hood Blows the Body off Her Funny Car

A terrible explosion caused the body to blow off Ashley Force-Hood's Funny Car during qualifying this weekend at the NHRA event at Maple Grove.

She was running in a heat against her father, John Force.  Ashley had a good run going until the explosion.
