Keeping you updated on the Marta "Yellow Line" situation, MARTA CEO Beverly Scott said Thursday afternoon that the transit agency would change the name of its “yellow” train line, which goes to Doraville, home to a large Asian-American community. The line will now be called "gold."
"We’re thrilled," said Helen Kim, director of advocacy and education at the Center for Pan Asian Community Services in Doraville. "I think this shows that MARTA heard our voice and they are sensitive to our concerns."
A MARTA employee who dealt with diversity issues warned the agency a month before the change that it could offend some in the Asian-American community. The change comes shortly after The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported the advocacy groups’ concern over the issue. That story prompted nationwide interest including from the Web site Gawker.

In front of about 1,000 fans, the New Jersey Nets lost for the 48th time before the All-Star break, trounced 97-77 by the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night.
Andrew Bogut scored 22 points and Ersan Ilyasova added 18 for Milwaukee.

Philadelphia, Baltimore and New York City were hardest hit with snow today, with those cities and their suburbs expected to get 12 to 18 inches of snow. High winds and poor visibility are going to make travel extremely dangerous throughout the night.
The blizzard could bring winds in excess of 40 mph to some parts of the East Coast. The snow should taper off a bit overnight.
