Giuliana Rancic Excited To Celebrate First Mother’s Day

courtesy of www.celebritybabyscoop.com

Proud new mom Giuliana Rancic has been honored with her “most official title yet” as Official Huggies Tester. The reality star, 38, says this project is “the perfect fit” thanks to her son Duke, 7 months, who wears Huggies’ SureFit Design diapers.

Giuliana opens up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about her baby boy who now “has two little teeth,” the joys – and challenges – of new motherhood, and her upcoming plans to celebrate her first Mother’s Day next month.

CBS: Tell us about partnering with Huggies to help spread the word about their new and improved and wipes.

GR: “I have become an Official Huggies Tester — my most official title yet! I was just in Round Rock, Texas – a town booming with babies – where we premiered their new advertisements that were filmed there with real parents and babies putting the new products to the test in their everyday routines. You can check a little teaser video for the ads here – it’s so cute.

This project was just a perfect fit for me right now because I’m using the Huggies Diapers with new SureFit Design with Duke, and I feel so confident knowing that his diaper fits him well and is super absorbent. So if we’re going shopping or he’s in the jogger while Bill and I run, he’ll stay comfy and dry.”

CBS: How’s baby Duke doing? What is he into these days? What does he do to make you laugh?

GR: “Duke is great! He is so sweet and always smiling. He has two little teeth now that are razor sharp, so he’s been gnawing on everything. It’s adorable. I always laugh when he starts talking to himself in his baby speak. He’s only seven and a half months old and hasn’t learned words yet, but he just goes on and on.”

CBS: How has motherhood been treating you? What are your greatest rewards as a mother? Biggest challenges?

GR: “Motherhood has been amazing! I’d say that having to leave Duke when I go to work has been one of my biggest challenges as a mom, but I am very thankful that Bill is such a supportive partner. He’s an amazing dad.

One of my favorite parts of being a mom to Duke is seeing him when he gets up in the morning and looking into his big beautiful eyes. He’s growing so fast, and it’s incredible to be there with him.”

CBS: Are you excited about celebrating you first Mother’s Day with Duke? What are your plans? What does Mother’s Day mean to you?

GR: “Bill and I are having our moms come to LA for Mother’s Day – to make it special for all of us. We’re planning a fancy bunch with the whole family at a nice hotel in Newport Coast and then a walk on the beach. Really, I just want to relax and enjoy the day together as a whole family.

This Mother’s Day is especially meaningful because it’s my first time to celebrate as a mother, of course! After struggling for years to have a baby, it’s a real gift to be able to spend the special day with Bill, Duke and our family.”

CBS: Also, do you have any plans for Bill and Duke for Father’s Day? Is Bill excited to celebrate his first Father’s Day?

GR: “I want to plan a very special Father’s Day since this will be Bill’s first. Since we’re spending Mother’s Day in LA, I’d love to plan an exciting weekend in Chicago – Bill’s hometown – with both of my boys. Depending on the weather, I’d love to start off with a run with Bill and Duke in the jogger along the lakefront. It would be really nice to walk to the zoo, some museums, and then top the night off with dinner at RPM Italian.”

CBS: You and Bill have been open about planning for another baby. Any updates?

GR: “We definitely love the idea of growing our family, but for right now, we want to focus all of our attention on Duke since he’s still so young. When we get to the point when we’re ready to have another baby, we’ll start thinking about our options.”

CBS: Do the paparazzi bother you? Are you worried about how they’ll make Duke feel one day?

GR: “I know that I have a public life, so it doesn’t bother me too much. I think because I’ve been an open book for so long, the paparazzi aren’t constantly searching high and low for me. We think that Duke will be able to escape it as he gets older, but if it ever bothered him, we would do what was best for our family.”

CBS: What’s up next for you?

GR: “I will keep my fancy new title as an Official Huggies Tester and continue to work with Huggies, but I also have my fun projects going on with Bill! We’re super excited about Ready for Love, and also have the next season of Giuliana & Bill on the Style Network premiering in June.”

Courtesy of celebritybabyscoop.com

If you haven’t heard of The Lylas yet, you will soon. In their single/video debut, the siblings of hitmaker Bruno Mars wow with Come Back, a collaboration between the four sisters - Presley, Tiara, Jaime, and Tahiti.

The Lylas open up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about how they came up with their first song. They go on to talk about their brother’s best advice for making it in the music industry, and growing up in Hawaii in a “loving family and paradise.” Two of the members – Jaime and Tahiti – go on to talk about their children and balancing work and motherhood.

CBS: Tell us all about your single/video debut Come Back. We love the song! Who wrote it? How did come to decide on this song as your debut?

The Lylas: “Come Back was a collaboration between the sisters and writers Jacob Lutrell and Davey Garner – Davey and Jacob channeled their inner femininity.

In the song, we are admitting (which we will never do again) that we were wrong and we want ‘him’ back. We combined all of our past experiences when writing it. It was heartfelt and seemed right for our debut.”

CBS: The four of you are sisters, AND your brother is Bruno Mars! Give us an idea of what your childhood was like growing up in Hawaii.

The Lylas: “Growing up in Hawaii was a dream childhood. Full of music, beach and family. We are so fortunate to have come from a talented, loving family and paradise.”

CBS: What are some of the values your parents instilled in all of you to succeed in the music industry?

The Lylas: “Be you, be strong and practice.”

CBS: What is the best advice Bruno has given you about breaking into the music industry, and succeeding beyond one big hit?

The Lylas: “Be you, love what you do, stay grounded, and have good producers and a good lawyer.”

CBS: Jaime, tell us about your kids. What are their names and ages? Do they also enjoy singing?

Jamie: “I have 2 boys: Marley and Jaimo. Marley 14, is an amazing visual artist. His drawings are deep and intricate. He also has a knack for music. Jaimo 7, is a really good drummer. They both have pretty voices although they are very shy when it comes to singing.”

CBS: Jaime, tell us about creating the global charity group Mothers About Making Amends (m.a.m.a. earth). What is it all about? What inspired you to start the charity?

Jaime: “I started m.a.m.a. earth in 2007. Basically, I’m a frustrated artist and I have a lot of creative energy, so m.a.m.a. earth is a good outlet for me to get it out and do good in the world. m.a.m.a. earth is a community organization dedicated to raising an awareness through music, art and nature based programs. Check out the website.”

CBS: Tahiti, tell us about your kids. What are their names and ages? Do they also enjoy singing?

Tahiti: “I have two boys who keep me busy. I have a 3 year old named Nyjah Music and a 2 year old Zyah Rhythm. They are definitely blessed with the music side of the family. They love dancing, singing, playing instruments, and being in the spotlight. They also love to skateboard and surf.”

CBS: Jaime and Tahiti, how do you balance motherhood and your career?

Jaime & Tahiti: “Very carefully. It’s not easy. We are learning that quality far outweighs quantity. Balancing motherhood and our career gets tough, but it’s our children who keep us strong and remind us that we are making them proud. Everything we do is for them.”

CBS: Are The Lylas eco-friendly? If so, how do you all plan to celebrate Earth Day?

The Lylas: “We try be eco-friendly as much as possible. On Earth Day, We plan on spending it with our boys and doing a beach clean up.”

Baby Born in New Hampshire Motor Speedway Parking Lot

A baby was born in the parking lot of New Hampshire Motor Speedway, but is he going to be a NASCAR fan?

The mother and father to be were heading to the hospital, but once they figured they weren't going to make it, they decided to boogity, boogity, boogity to the parking lot at the famed raceway.

The mother said she and her boyfriend delivered the baby, named Katie (save your Dale and Jr. jokes for later), in their car. An EMT at the track then came to help, and the couple and the baby were taken to a hospital.

Speedway General Manager Jerry Gappens has awarded the baby two tickets to NASCAR races for the rest of her life.

Dogs Can Help Keep a Baby Healthy

Babies who spend time around pet dogs have fewer ear infections and respiratory ailments than those whose homes are animal-free, said a study released on Monday.

The study, published in the US journal Pediatrics, did not say why but suggested that being around a dog that spends at least part
of its day outdoors may boost a child's immune system in the first year of life.

The research was based on 397 children in Finland whose parents made diary entries each week recording the state of their child's health during the infant's first year, from nine weeks to 52 weeks of age.

Overall, babies in homes with cats or dogs were about 30 percent less likely to have respiratory infectious symptoms -- which included cough, wheezing, rhinitis (stuffy or runny nose) and fever -- and about half as likely to get ear infections.

"If children had dog or cat contacts at home, they were significantly healthier during the study period," said the study led by experts at Kuopio University Hospital in Finland.

The most protective association was seen in children who had a dog inside at home for up to six hours a day, compared to children who did not have any dogs or who had dogs that were always outside.

The improvement was significant, even after researchers ruled out other factors that could boost infection risk, such as not having been breastfed, attending daycare, being raised by smokers or parents with asthma, or having older siblings in the household.

In addition to having less frequent ear infections and respiratory infections, babies near dogs tended to need fewer courses of antibiotics compared to those who were reared in pet-free households, it said.

Previous research has shown conflicting results, with some studies finding no benefit for young children being around furry pets and others finding that animal contact appears to offer some protection against colds and stomach ailments.
