Baddeley Takes Barbasol

Aaron Baddeley found himself a discouraging 11 shots off the lead after 36 holes, but just three strokes off the pace after round three. With a final-round, 5-under 66, Baddeley forced sudden death with South Korea’s Si Woo Kim. On the fourth extra hole, No. 18, Baddeley sank a 28-foot putt for birdie to claim his fourth career PGA TOUR in his 354th TOUR start at the age of 35 years, 4 months.

Baddeley now moves to 1-1 in playoffs, with his ’wins on the PGA TOUR; 2006 RBC Heritage, 2007 Waste Management Phoenix Open, 2011 Northern Trust Open and 2016 Barbasol Championship.Baddeley collects 300 FedExCup points to move up from No. 86 to No. 41 in the FedExCup standings with 820 points. It took 458 points to qualify for the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup in 2014-15, 554 to qualify for Deutsche Bank Championship, 692 for BMW Championship and 1,062 for the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola.

Last season marked the first of Baddeley’s career – and first in the history of the FedExCup – that he did not make into at least the first event of the FedExCup Playoffs. In the inaugural FedExCup Playoffs in 2007, Baddeley finished in ninth – his highest ever.

Kim’s P2 marks his third top-10 finish of the season (4th/Sony Open in Hawaii, T9/CareerBuilder Challenge). This was his 26th start in 2015-16.

Before this season, Kim had not made a start on the PGA TOUR since the 2013 Wyndham Championship. That season, he missed seven of eight cuts and withdrew from the eighth.
