BB&T Atlanta Open and the Wildcard Challenge

The 2016 installment of the BB&T Atlanta Open, an ATP World Tour 250 event opened this week with the Wildcard Challenge. This meant four players with local ties were vying for one remaining spot in the BB&T Singles Qualifying Draw.

The play was excellent and took place on the BB&T Atlanta Open practice courts at Atlantic Station.

Big Summer of Tennis for Isner

John Isner played Davis Cup in Oregon last week, but his big summer of tennis on the ATP Tour officially strted on Wednesday.

The top seed breezed into the third round of the ATP Washington Open on Wednesday.

Isner, coming off heartbreaking Wimbledon and Davis Cup defeats, fired 14 aces and dropped only three points on his first serve in a 6-3, 6-4 romp over Australian qualifier James Duckworth.

Isner has Canada, Atlanta and Cincinnati upcoming on his schedule before the U.S. Open.

BB&T Atlanta Open Courts Going Up

Rising out of the parking lots are the Stadium and Granstand courts for the 2016 BB&T Atlanta Open at Atlantic Station.

Stadium Going Up at Atlantic Station

It's a tennis tournament with an engineering wonder.

The BB&T Atlanta Open tennis tournament in Atlanta is three weeks away and until July, there is no stadium to play the matches in. That is when Nussli steps in and builds a stadium that is featured on television all over the world.

The stadium is going up at Atlantic Station, courtesy of Nussli, a company that constructs temporary stadiums for events.

BB&T Atlanta Open Wimbledon Viewing Party at Avalon

The first of two Wimbledon Viewing parties was held on Thursday at Avalon in Alpharetta.

There were starawberries & cream, a huge video screen, BB&T Atlanta Open giveaways and mini tennis.

What more could you ask for? There will be another Wimbledon Watch event on July 7, back at Avalon from 10 am -3pm.
