iPad Free App of the Week: Lightning and Rain

While this isn't a great app yet, it has promise.

What it is supposed to do, is show where lightning strikes are occuring.

It does that, but right now it's only working for Europe.

For each discharge the app will show:

* Location (lattitude, longitude, address)
* Discharge (kA)
* Time of discharge (CET-2)

It only keeps the last 100 discharges stored.

If it can add North America to the mix then the entire globe, this would be cool.  Until then it's just for our European friends

iPad Free App of the Week: Royal Wedding App by NBC

If you are a "Royal Watcher" I'm sure know about a big wedding coming up.

Well. there's also an app for that.

This one-of-a-kind news app is an interactive and engaging way to experience all the news leading up to the Royal Wedding and a social tool for the day itself.

The app combines a number of features including:

-- over 300 photos and more than 40 NBC News royal reports from Today, Nightly News and Dateline — both new & from the NBC News Archives

-- the latest news and content from NBC News’ royal commentators Camilla Tominey and TODAY.com’s Windsor Knot blog

-- an interactive royal family tree with all the key family members you need to know for the wedding day, with bios by NBC Royal commentator and author Robert Jobson

-- ways to share all our royal content with other fans using Twitter and Facebook

-- ideas for hosting your own Royal Wedding “watch party” and food recipes to have the perfect tea party

-- opportunities to purchase exclusive royal wedding products from the NBC Universal store

What more could you ask for.

There's even a special section of photos from Kate's life, so you can see her because she becomes a stuffy Windsor.
