LSU Opens a Small Favorite Over Clemson

The national championship is set, and oddsmakers have made LSU a slight favorite against Clemson.

The initial line posted Saturday night at SportsBetting.ag showed LSU listed as a 3.5-point favorite over Clemson. However, early wagering forced a move to LSU -4, then -4.5 and then finally the current spread of -5.

The game's over/under is set at 68.5 points, which is by far the highest total in CFP title game history (see complete list below).

The moneylines, or the odds for each team to just win the game, are LSU -210 and Clemson +180.

Current odds: https://www.sportsbetting.ag/sportsbook/football/ncaa

LSU started the season with 30/1 odds to win the CFP National Championship. Clemson's odds were 13/2, or +650.

LSU's dominant victory against Oklahoma, as well as the close contest between Clemson and Ohio State, impacted the calculation of the championship odds. On Thursday, SportsBetting.ag posted look-ahead lines for each of the four matchup scenarios and at that time an LSU-Clemson game was listed as a pick 'em or tossup.

LSU Beats Auburn But Falls in Poll

There is a new No. 2 in college football, as Oregon's emphatic 49-0 win over Arizona late Saturday night pushed the Ducks ahead of Louisiana State in Sunday's Associated Press and USA Today coaches' college football polls.

LSU struggled to a 12-10 win with a struggling Auburn.

USC stayed at No. 13 in the AP but dropped one position, to No. 13, in the coaches' index. UCLA, a loser at home to Oregon State, dropped out of both polls.

The top six of the AP and USA Today polls are the same. Alabama is first followed by Oregon, LSU, Florida State, Georgia and South Carolina.

Kansas State, after its upset of Oklahoma in Norman,  moved up eight spots to No. 7 in the AP, followed by Stanford, West Virginia and Notre Dame.  Oregon State is No. 18 in the AP while Oklahoma slid from No. 6 to No. 16.

College Football Bowl Play of the Day: BCS Championship Game

It's a rematch between LSU and Alabama in the BCS title game.

This is bound to be a close game.  I think it will be close for three quarters.

LSU won earlier this season 9-6.  LSU won in 2010 24-21.

LSU is favored by 1.5 points and word is quite a bit on money is coming in on Alabama.

I just like LSU's weapons and playmakers and their offensive line wearing the Crimson Tide down as the game enters the fourth quarter.

LSU is also 8-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.  They play well against good teams.

These are both good, well coached teams.  It's all up for grabs tonight in New Orleans.

Prediction: LSU 23  Alabama 17

Take LSU and give the 1.5.
