Big XII Basketball Play of the Day for 2/5/11

Missouri

Colorado goes to Missouri today.  Missouri needs to make a statement in this game with the erratic play they have had of late.

I see that statement getting made.  Missouri is giving 10 pts to the Buffalos, and they should end up winning by 15-20.

Mizzou is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 home games and 11-3 ATS in their last 14 games as a home favorite of 7.0-12.5.  That should spell disaster for a Colorado team that has performed better than most thought coming into the year.

Take Missouri and give the 10.

Big XII Basketball Play of the Day for 1/22/11

Kansas

Kansas and Texas in a good Big XII tilt this afternoon.  Kansas comes in undefeated and ranked #2.  Texas is 15-3 and ranked #11 heading to Lawrence.

Kansas is favored by only 7.  I think it should be more.  Texas is 3-10 ATS in their last 13 Sat. games, and 7-20-1 ATS in their last 28 vs. Big 12 teams.  Not looking good for Texas here.  Kansas is loaded and is looking like a Final Four team right now.  The Jayhawks are averaging over 83 points a game and only giving up 61.

It will be tough for Texas to keep this within 10 points.  Take Kansas and give the paltry 7 points.
Bonus Pick:  This game has gone over the last 5 meetings between these two teams playing in Lawrence.  Take the over 143.  Good Luck!

Sunday's NFL Divisional Playoff Play of the Day

No surprise here... The New England Patriots

Depending on where you look, New England is favored by 9.5 to 10 points over the Jets.  It won't be that close.

New England is on an 8 game winning streak and they like to do their talking on the field.  The Jets have been erratic the last month or so and they like to do their talking, well they talk all of the time.

This 51-year-old rivalry has been dead even over the years – including two New England wins in the playoffs, the series is tied 51-51-1 – and it has been as heated as ever since the outspoken Ryan took over the Jets last season. But the Patriots' play did the talking in the most recent meeting, a 45-3 blowout in Week 13 that avenged New York's 28-14 home victory in Week 2.

The home team is 4-0 ATS in their last four meetings in this series.  Look for the New England tight ends to have a big game.

Take the Patriots and give the points.

* Bonus play - The Over, which is only 44 pts right now.

Saturday's NFL Divisional Round Play of the Day

The Ravens.

At last look, the line stands at the Ravens getting 3.5 points in this playoff game.  What is important here is that half point.  You see, the games in this heated series are usually decided by three points.

The Ravens getting that 3.5 points is key.  Also, the road team fares well in this rivalry. Road teams are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four meetings.  This should be a close and low-scoring game.

Both teams will rely on their defenses and pick and choose their spots on offense.  The Ravens might not get the win, but they at least get the cover here.

Saturday's Big XII Play of the Day: K-State

Texas Tech at Kansas State on Saturday.

I love watching Big XII Basketball on Saturday afternoons.  It's high quality basketball and most of the time the games come down to the last few minutes.

I'll try and make a Big XII pick each Saturday.  Let's hope I do as well as I did ending the college football season.

Kansas State is in a bit of a slump starting Big XII play and Texas tech actually has a losing record.  I expect K-State to rebound with a big home victory here over the Red Raiders.

Texas Tech is 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games overall and Kansas State.  In this series, the home team is 10-3 ATS in the last 13 meetings.  So all this, and the fact that Texas Tech appears to be in for a long season, I say take the Kansas State Wildcats and give the points, probably 11 or 12.

Good luck this season.
