New Year's Eve College Bowl Play of the Day: Liberty Bowl

I love Vandy giving just 2.5 in the 2011 Liberty Bowl.

Vandy has been in every game this year with the exception of against Alabama.  Their 6-6 record should be better but I expect them to show well against a Cincinnati team that is prone to giving up points in bunches.

Look for a quick start from Vandy and then they will close it out, winning by 10.

Take Vandy and give the points.  Happy New Year's Eve!

Friday's College Football Play of the Day: LSU

I'm surprised to see a lot of people wanting to take Arkansas in this game.

LSU is at home and giving 12 to the Razorbacks.

I can't go against Les Miles and the No. 1 Tigers.

The Tigers are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 conference games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as a favorite of 10.5 or greater.

The LSU defense is too strong and Arkansas, although a good team, is a notch below LSU.

Take LSU and give the 12.  Should be a fun game to watch.

College Football Play of the Day for 11/12/11: Auburn

One day removed from 11/11/11, it's a big day for college football.

Two old rivals meet today in Athens, GA.  Georgia and Auburn.

Georgia is on a tear, winning seven straight games.  They need this win to almost wrap up the SEC East title.  Auburn is 6-3, but only 1-3 on the road.

The problem is Georgia is handing Auburn way too many points with the 13-point line.

I know it's not the same Auburn team as last year, but they are 13-3 ATS in their last 16 conference games.

Georgia is 3-9 ATS vs. a team with a winning record, not great.

In the end, I like Georgia to win the game, but not by 13.  Take Auburn and the points.

College Football Play of the Day for 10/1/11

Texas A&M

Texas A&M at Arkansas, with the home team getting 2.5 points.

The way I look at it, it's only 2.5 points and A&M has looked like a much more potent team that Arkansas this season.  This will be a conference game as early as next year with the Aggies joining the SEC.

Now it's just a great matchup.

The Aggies are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games as a favorite and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall.

Look for the Aggie's offense to pick apart the Arkansas D, first by the run, then by air and win by about 10 points.

Take A&M and give the points.

Bad Break for Arkansas Football

Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino confirmed Friday that running back Knile Davis is expected to miss the season because of a left ankle injury.

The injury is a major blow to the preseason expectations for the Razorbacks, who were 10-3 and reached their first BCS bowl game last season. Davis suffered the injury early in the scrimmage portion of practice on Thursday and was carted off the field without being able to put weight on his left leg.

Davis led all Southeastern Conference running backs with 1,322 yards rushing last season, averaging 147 yards per game over the final seven games of the season.

He was a preseason second-team All-SEC selection and had also been named to the Doak Walker, Maxwell and Walter Camp Player of the Year award watch lists.
