AJC Sunday's Front Page is an Ad

While having coffee at Starbuck's on Sunday morning, I usually check out a bit of the print edition of the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Today, I look at the front page and see an intriguing headline about Wells Fargo taking over the Wachovia locations in Metro Atlanta this past week.  I thought there could be some juicy information in this feature story about the name change, or some insider info on the transition as a whole and how it will affect customers.

I was wrong.  This turns out to be a paid ad.  It says so in light gray print at the top of the text.  i immediately lost all desire to read the piece.  Since when did major city newspapers start selling the whole front page as advertising space?  Maybe I'm out of touch.

No wonder newspapers are on life support and people no loner dash to their doorstep or to the convenience store early Sunday morning to get their copy.  Now people fire up their Kindle ir iPad to read the articles they want to read.  These newspaper publishing conglomerates are lucky people do this.

No wonder I no longer subscribe to the AJC.
