U.S. Open Match to Watch: Day 4

You could do a lot worse than watching a mid afternoon match on the Grandstand between Jo-Wilfriend Tsonga of France and Sergei Bubka of the Ukraine.

Tsonga remains one of the most entertaining players to watch on the men's tour and if the name Sergei Bubka seems familiar to you, this is the son of the famous pole vaulter, Sergei Bubka.

Expect to see Tsonga blasting forehands from corner to corner, and Bubka to unload on big first serves.  Bubka recently surpassed the 150mph mark on a first serve he hit at a tournament in Canada.

Tsonga will win the match, but I can't wait to watch it unfold.

Wimbledon Men's Semi-Finals

The second and final Friday at Wimbledon brings us the men's semis

The opening act will include Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Novak Djokovic.  Tsonga holds a 5-2 career edge against the Serb, but all of those meetings were on hardcourts and these two haven't played since the 2010 Australian Open.  No matter how well Tsonga is playing, I like the determination and attitude Djokovic is playing with.

Prediction: The Serb will pull it out in 4 tough sets.

The second match or main event will have the tennis world watching.  Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray.  Nadal holds a big career edge and two victories on grass at Wimbledon.  I don't expect anything to change on Friday and I like Nadal.

Prediction: Nadal in 3 sets.

ATP Tennis Match of the Week: Monfils vs. Tsonga

This match is dead even and will go three sets.

Tsonga leads the overall series 2-0 with 2 victories on hard courts.

Look at the tale of the tape.   It's so even.  Tsonga is currently ranked #13 and Monfils is #15.

I give the edge to Tsonga a little this week playing in Montpellier, although Monfils had a great win in the quarters over John Isner.

Look for Tsonga to win 6-4 in the 3rd set.
