* TOPICS - The Purgatory e-book and current golf Kickstarter and Indiegogo products (Crowdfunding projects)
We look at a beautiful new e-book showcasing the beautiful "Purgatory" golf course in Indiana - and we get Brian's opinion on some Golf "Kickstarter" and Indieagogo projects and we test him to see if they got funded or not
1. Purgatory e-book ("More Heaven than Hell") by Tenna Merchent available on iBooks - free version of $4.99
This is a coffee table style iBook, that does not include any video, so it can be more widely read. It is heavy on images, and light on text. There’s a short introductory chapter that gives an overview of the golf course. The next 18 chapters are each dedicated to one hole, with a short description of the challenges a golfer will face, a video flyover, yardage book illustration, and several high quality images. There are also chapters on the clubhouse and areas around the course with accompanying images. Tenna's favorite chapter is one of the last where she included images that she either hand painted, or rendered in a painterly fashion to create stunning artwork.
What better way to promote this fantastic looking golf course
We test Brian to see if can guess what got funded and what didn't

2. Show Me app and device- You have to pledge $149 to get one of the first units
Partner with the AJGA
ShowMe began with a dream of a father who wanted to follow his sons playing competitive golf across the globe. That dream is now becoming a reality.
It’s super simple: grab a device and head out on the course. Put it in your pocket, on your belt, or in your bag, and whenever you get to your ball, simply press a button to record the position of your shots. Your round is now broadcast live to parents, coaches and college recruiters – on the course, in the clubhouse, back home, or across the globe.
This is the ShowMe device – the shot by shot GPS scorecard that will help you improve your game and make it more engaging.
This has been done before, but this produces stats in a nice format
3. The Omen - golf ball - Minimum $25 contribution
Hey Kickstarters, thanks for checking out our project! OnCore Golf is a start up company on the verge of launching a revolutionary hollow metal core golf ball- The Omen. Just to be clear, there is no other golf ball designed like ours in the world! The Omen, by shifting the weight to the outside of the ball, reduces one's hooks and slices. It is geared for amateur golfers looking to play golf from the fairway and not the woods!
Is it USGA approved??? Our concept was approved in the past but balls must be resubmitted every single year. We have made sure that when designing the ball, it would conform to all the metrics the USGA has laid out. We have no interest in making a "cheater ball." We just want to make a better ball. I beleive that is what we have done!
4. Club Catcher: Never lose another golf club. - $120
Finally! The solution to a problem as old as golf itself: lost golf clubs. Club Catcher keeps track of your clubs so you don't have to.
Club Catcher is a base unit that clips onto your golf bag, and club units that screw into your existing club grips. It won't interfere with normal play, but will quickly alert you with an audible alarm when you leave a club behind. Using a combination of motion sensing and radio frequency (RF) communication, Club Catcher keeps track of your clubs so you don’t have to.
5. M-Tees - Acculong Golf Tees $10 for a strip of tees
Patent Pending ACULONG Golf Tees give you longer golf drives - Guaranteed. Our tees have been proven using robotic testing to give you longer drives and better accuracy when driving the golf ball and conform to USGA rules. Now that’s a hole-in-one!
They are made of Teslin, a non-toxic, non-cellulose, recyclable material that is 65% by weight inorganic filler (silica, derived from sand).
Teslin is basically synthetic paper like greeting cards are made out of
6. Gravity Centered Golf's zero torque golf clubs $129
The next revolution in golf club design from GCG! Our golf clubs are designed to produce zero torque, meaning you will hit the ball straighter!
Our design moves the shaft attachment point so that zero torque is produced, resulting in more shots in the fairway, and makes it far easier to hit straight from difficult lies.
