Limpert Tech "SullyCast" on Radio 105.7 and iHeartRadio - Earth Day, One Week Late

One week ago it was Earth Day.

How did you celebrate, or what did you do for the environment?
Amazing companies have joined the movement and have made strides in creating high tech and useable products and experiences that are Earth-friendly!

Rick and Sully take a look.

1.  Toast and Nodus Collection Cases

Toast, a company that makes various electronic device covers out of reclaimed, responsibly grown and rainforest friendly wood veneers, has partnered with Trees for the Future to plant one tree for every share of the hashtag “OneToastOneTree” and their special Earth Day image on social media April 22nd. The two companies have partnered up since summer 2016 and have already planted 33,231 trees for every Toast product made.

Nodus
Every single Nodus is built to last, hand crafted from the finest vegetable tanned leathers, incorporating innovative technologies and design features hidden within.
Nothing compares to the touch and feel of a good leather, which is why Nodus only use thes finest full and top grain vegetable tanned Italian leathers that age with beauty. They are also committed to using the traditional and sustainable method of tanning our ethically sourced materials.

2. Humble Brush

Why not make a difference every day when you brush your teeth? Humble the world with Humble Brush – the 100% biodegradable toothbrush made from naturally sustainable bamboo! Hand-crafted to perfection, each brush addresses two major issues with toothbrushing today: toothbrushes leave an environmental footprint and not everyone owns one. On a mission to solve these problems, Humble Brush is not only humble to the planet, but also helps people in need. Every Humble Brush sold helps children in need participate in a comprehensive preventive oral care program. More than just a toothbrush, Humble Brush is the eco-friendly, socially responsible answer to modern daily oral care. With a commitment to health and the environment, make Humble Brush the new accessory for your bathroom this season.

3. A New Google Earth App

Google has decided to revamp its Google Earth app. On April 18, the search giant unveiled the new app.
What's new:  3D Maps

In earlier versions of Google Earth, certain buildings could be viewed in 3D, provided you checked off “3D Buildings” in the Layers portion of the app. But in the newest release of Google Earth, you can view, well, the whole world in 3D. When you search for a location, a clickable 2D/3D button appears on the lower right-hand corner of the screen, giving you a quick and easy way to look at your destination in another dimension.
Learn about unusual places: Hemingway's haunts are one example. Did you know that before Europeans came to North America, so-called Mississippians “had built a great city surrounded by huge earthen pyramids and a Stonehenge-like structure made of wood to track the movements of the stars”? And that it’s still visible in Illinois? Me neither, but the new Google Earth highlights this structure, along with eight other architectural feats, forgotten lands, or relics of an ancient world. Go to Google Earth -> Voyage -> History -> Lost Civilizations from Above to find them.

Feel lucky?
Google has ported its “I’m feeling lucky” button from its search engine to the new Google Earth, and it’s a glorious way to distract yourself at work or plan your next spontaneous trip.

4.  Ashley Chloe

Ashley Chloe is donating 10% of all sales to Water.org, a nonprofit dedicated to bringing clean water to the developing world, as well as access to working toilets. Purchases must be made between April 22-30, 2017.
Angela Pan, CEO of Ashley Chloe, is an advocate for women empowerment and creating a better world for the next generation. Pan's passion lies in providing support for women, whether it be in business or on impactful initiatives. "Ashley Chloe chose to support Water.org because of their commitment to the work on providing everyone with clean water." said Angela Pan. "We also believe very much in their mission to empower women and to improve people's lives. We hope that our involvement helps bring safe water to places in the world that need it most.”

When it takes hours every day to find and collect water, it's hard to get through a full day at school. It's hard to prosper without safe water. It's hard to focus on community growth. It's hard to live a normal life. Clean water is a fundamental human need, but 663 million people worldwide don’t have access to it. 2.4 billion people worldwide lack access to a toilet and basic sanitary needs. Water.org and Ashley Chloe hope to change these statistics and help foster a change in the world for the better.

“Water.org is thankful for Ashley Chloe’s support." said Melanie Mendrys, Water.org's Director of Brand and Marketing. "Their donations will help empower families around the world with access to safe water and sanitation. We are honored to have such great supporters taking action to change lives with safe water.”
