** Rick today was at the Comcast’s Xfinity Home for the Atlanta Home Tour.

·Gartner estimates 6.4 billion connected devices will be in use in 2016, growing to 20.8 billion by 2020. In 2016, 5.5 million new things will get connected every day.

·According to new research we just released with August Home, the market for home security and automation is expected to double in the next 12 months to 30 million households.

This is the first time that Comcast has shown all existing home security and automation devices across one easy-to-use platform.

·We’re debuting the new Xfinity Home xCam, which features improved Wi-Fi functionality, indoor/outdoor usage and a 24/7 motion detection monitoring service to keep tabs on your family’s safety.

·During the home tour, you’ll see that Xfinity Home users can control all smart home functions from a single app.

·This includes the ability to receive a notification for situations including, but not limited to: when the door is unlocked to track if the dog walker showed up, check via video if your child returned home from school, turning the lights on because it’s starting to get darker earlier, etc.

***  A couple weeks ago, Rick was in Philadelphia for the Copa America Centanario soccer match between Chile and Panama. But it was also the unveiling of Sprint's 5G wireless demo and Rick was there to give his impressions...  Sprint was a partner with Copa 2016

1.  Sprint 5G is FAST!

Dozens times faster than what we are currently using. Spring is one of the first U.S. carriers to demonstrate 5G at a large scale public event such as Copa America Centenario in Philly this week.
Faster speeds, no latency, fewer dropped calls.  Use in "Internet of Things" Virtual and augmented reality applications.

2. Sprint's innovative CEO, Marcelo Claure is a big fan of soccer, helping lead to the partnership

“This is the first time the tournament is being held in the United States,” said Marcelo Claure, Sprint president and CEO. “We’re celebrating by giving our customers free access to watch every match of 2016 Copa América Centenario. With fuboTV, customers can use their Sprint smartphone anytime, anywhere on our fastest and most reliable network ever to watch the tournament. Everyone wins with the opportunity to save 50 percent off most AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon standard rate plans when they switch to Sprint. In addition to a world-class network, we are also creating unique experiences for fans to win prizes like a trip to the final match.”

3. Live Copa America Games for free with no data charges for Sprint customers

fuboTV, a streaming service that bundles live sports and entertainment channels, will streamed the Spanish-language broadcasts via Univision for all of the Copa América Centenario matches. For a limited time Sprint, Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile USA customers will have exclusive free access to a fuboTV subscription on their smartphones to watch Copa América Centenario this June1.

Wrap up....
Sprint is pointing toward a 5G future even as it looks to reduce spending and lowers prices to get customers to switch.  Sprint admits is all about better service quality to earn additional customers.
