1. * LinkedIn news - 14-Year-Olds Can Join LinkedIn, Size Up Colleges
LinkedIn has lowered the minimum age for users to 14.
Should your 14-year old have a LinkedIn account?
As of Sept. 12, the age-18 minimum for LinkedIn membership will disappear. Being 14 will be sufficient in the U.S. and Canada.
LinkedIn’s new initiative centers on specially designed pages for universities. Late last week, LinkedIn’s higher education evangelist, John Hill, offered previews of new LinkedIn pages for Carnegie-Mellon and New York University. In addition to all the usual fare — such as campus news, photos and financial-aid facts — LinkedIn will provide lots of unique data about alumni career paths, as well some help in reaching out to individual graduates.
LinkedIn's thought is to try and make money off colleges and universites

It also puts more emphasis on user content, making it easier to determine who has commented on a Group post or follow a conversation in the comments thread. Group moderators will also be able to customize the Group's image at the top of the page.
