NFL News: Albert Haynesworth Reports to Camp - Fails Test

The good news: Albert Haynesworth reported to Redskin's taining camp on thursday.

The bad news: He failed Head Coach Mike Shanhan's conditioning test.

The test called for Haynesworth to complete two sets of sprints with a break in between. Haynesworth utilized the men's room during the break, an interval that Shanahan said was too long, ESPN reported.

So Haynesworth had to start over and run the second set of sprints as if it were the first. He passes that set, but failed on the third set.

Haynesworth claimed that he could not have passed the third set even in his Pro Bowl seasons. At that point, Shanahan told him (via ProFootballTalk), "I guess you have never been in shape then."

Shanahan said Thursday afternoon that Haynesworth was the only player who had to take the conditioning test. He added that other players passed the drill during the offseason workout program, which Shanahan missed.

The relationship between Shanahan and Haynesworth soured when the defender skipped a mandatory minicamp in June. The two met on Wednesday, a talk Shanahan called "pleasant," but there may still be simmering feelings of unhappiness.

Haynesworth reported to the Redskins down about 30 pounds from last season's playing weight, and Shanahan acknowledged on Wednesday that he looked to be in good shape.

Haynesworth will get a second chance to take the conditioning test on Friday, defensive coordinator Jim Haslett said.
