Tech Accessory Holiday Gift Idea Day 6: iPad Wood Cover - Brazilian Cherry
If you have an iPad 1 like me and are looking for a special cover for your tablet, this may be the one for you. Jealous of iPad 2 owners that have that neat cover that flips back on magnets and folds up into a nice stand.
You're in luck with this wood cover available on Etsy.
This is a 2-piece package:
1) A "snap-on" back panel covered in leather with magnets embedded in the outer edge allowing attachment of the magnetic hinge of the cover.
2) A magnetic cover of renewable, sustainable wood from Brazil backed with leather.
This cover folds into a stand for landscape viewing and also positions the iPad at an inclination for easier typing and glare elimination, just like our cover for the iPad 2. Unlike some other covers I have seen, this cover folds inward so that the leather next to the screen is on the inside, which keeps the leather from picking up dirt from your desktop and transferring potentially damaging debris to your screen.
This cover will not awaken the iPad 1 from sleep mode as Apple did not embed a magnetic switch in the frame. There are no magnets anywhere in the iPad 1 frame, this cover attaches to the embedded magnets on the left side of the back cover affording iPad 2 benefits to the iPad 1.
The wood is finished with natural oil and is hand buffed using a 3-step process. Pictures do not do justice to the beauty of the wood. As always, your satisfaction is guaranteed.
Your first-generation iPad will be protected on all sides with this great looking cover.
Available from DFauberWoodsmith on Etsy for $99.00

TOO FUNNY ! Magnets on a computer - then making a cover for an Apple product that really IS made from wood from a South American "rain forest" - but because it's an Apple product, they're allowed to say "renewabel and sustainable" - but if we point that out in the US, we're evil and hate the earth.
I think it looks terrific and hope they sell a bunch of them...but what if Apple finds out that they are contributing to the "destruction of the rain forest" ? Will they protest themselves ? (lol)
