David Bays Jet Car Crash at NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indy

The NHRA broke out the jet cars for some exhibition races this weekend at the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis.

In this video, it's hard to see, but the Friday night qualifications wrap up with two jet cars and the INCENERATOR driven by David Bays on the far side (right lane) looses control at the end of track and goes over wall.

He amazingly walked away from the crash.  I'll update if I get better video of this crash.

I love how these cars warm up.

I was at qualifying Friday when this happened, but couldn't see it because of where I was sitting. ESPN2 showed it on this morning's coverage of Q4, and it was horrifying. So glad he was able to walk away! I'm guessing they will show it again tomorrow (9/5/11) during their coverage of the final eliminations.

The driver did not walk away. It was Darin Bay and last reports were he is still in the hospital with a concussion. They're keeping him for observation. The other driver hit the right wall swerving to miss Darin. That driver walked away.
