Day 4: U.S. Open Match to Watch

 Men's Singles - 2nd Round
  Robin Soderling(SWE)[5] vs.   Taylor Dent(USA)

A matchup of big hitters on the Grandstand.  Taylor Dent loves playing on this court and always gets fired up for the U.S. Open.

Soderling is a bit of a question mark heading into this match.  Could be a classic.

How about Sodering in 5 tough sets?

Kindle Free Pick of the Week: Bake Sale Murder

Ever since local developer Fred Stanton and his wife, Mimi, built five modular homes next door to Lucy Stone's farmhouse, life just hasn't been the same. With Mimi complaining about everything from the state of Lucy's lawn to another neighbor's lovable dog, quaint Tinker's Cove, Maine, is now entangled in cul-de-sac politics and backstabbing. And when Mimi doesn't show up for her shift at The Hat and Mitten Fund bake sale, the scent of burnt sugar leads Lucy to a shocking discovery: Mimi, face down on her kitchen floor--with a knife in her back.

While the police start their investigation, Lucy gets busy writing up the murder for the local Pennysaver--and following a few leads of her own. Lucy knows the women in her neighborhood didn't like Mimi, but they certainly didn't want her dead...right?

Hurricane Earl Threatens Friday's Play at U.S. Open

Although Hurricane Earl has weakened from a Category 4 to a Category 3 storm and isn't expected to land a direct hit to New Jersey and New York, the Labor Day weekend is likely to begin Friday with wet weather, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service is calling for a 30 percent chance of showers in the overnight hours of Friday morning at the Shore. Later in the day, there is a greater probability of showers with winds gusting up to 37 miles per hour and dangerous surf.

The rest of the weekend after Friday looks good right now.

As of 8 a.m., Earl was about 180 miles east of San Salvador in the Bahamas and moving northwest at 16 miles per hour with sustained winds topping out at 125 miles per hour. The storm is now about 780 miles from Cape Hatteras, N.C, where it could land a blow as early as Thursday night.

Friday tennis play could be in jeopardy if Earl continues at its current strength and course.

Day 3: U.S. Open Match to Watch

 Men's Singles - 1st Round
  Frederico Gil(POR) vs.   John Isner(USA)[18]

A match on Armstrong Stadium.  Inser finally takes the court for his first round encounter with Gil.  Gil doesn't really have anything to hurt Isner, and that is good for John as he is coming off a bad ankle injury in Cincinnati.

It's a miracle Isner can even take to the court.  Give a lot of credit to John and his training staff.  I hope his ankle holds out,  if it does, he wins in 3.
