David Eckoff is the co-founder of Pickoff Sports. They develop web and mobile applications for sports fans to interact, compete and have fun with their friends.  Their first game, Pickoff, launched in Alpha in December 2011. Predict game winners and challenge friends in a fun social game for sports fans.

Dramatic Video of Isaac Hitting the Gulf

Newly downgraded Tropical Storm Isaac plodded its way across Louisiana on Wednesday, inundating parts of a mostly rural area southeast of New Orleans. In hard-hit Plaquemines Parish, officials rescued dozens of people by boat after they became stranded by floodwaters.

Isaac Pounds Gulf Coast

Isaac stalled over southeastern Louisiana on Wednesday morning, dumping torrential rains across the Gulf Coast and pounding low-lying areas with 8- to 10-foot storm surges and 75-mph winds. The National Hurricane Center warned that hurricane conditions would persist all day and into the evening for storm-battered coastal residents.

The huge, slow-moving storm knocked down trees and power lines, flooded roads and highways and sent bands of wind and rain pelting an area from New Orleans to the Florida panhandle. Isaac, a Category 1 hurricane, is expected to be downgraded to a tropical storm late Wednesday as it slowly crawls north toward Arkansas and the Mississippi River Valley.

iPad Mini Coming in October

Just in time for the holiday season.

Looks like a new tablet is coming from Apple, sometime in October.  A 7.85-inch tablet the "iPad Mini." Reports have placed the new tablet's release in October, following the expected Sept. 12 unveiling of the new iPhone. Despite the current iPad's newfangled high-res Retina display, rumor has it that the Mini may have a cheaper screen, making it competitively priced against Google's Nexus 7 and Amazon's Kindle Fire, both selling for a starting price of $199. Cupertino is expected to hold a separate iPad launch event, during an unknown date.
