Isaac Heading for Gulf

National Hurricane Center update,  the forecast track for Isaac continued a shift to the west as it approached Hispaniola late Thursday.

Isaac was about 145 miles south-southeast of the Dominican Republic moving west to northwest at 18 mph. Its maximum sustained winds were near 45 mph.

A hurricane watch is in effect for Haiti while tropical storm warnings are in effect for the Dominican Republic, Cuba and the southeastern Bahamas.

The center of Isaac will be near or over Hispaniola on Friday and move near or over southeastern Cuba on Saturday.

After Isaac passes over Hispaniola and Cuba, it is expected to weaken, and then restrengthen over the Gulf of Mexico. As of right now, Monday should be the worst weather day for residents in South Florida. There’s only a 25%-35% probability that South Floridians will feel tropical storm-force winds or rain.

Woman Lands 1000 lb Fish, but Doesn't Win Tourney in Hawaii

A Hawaii tournament fisher fought a 12-foot, half-ton marlin in the Pacific Ocean for more than four hours before she and her teammates got the monster fish out of the water - but she missed out on the glory and thousands of dollars in prize money.

Molly Palmer, 28, would have needed to nab the fish by herself in order for it to qualify as a valid catch for the tournament, according to rules set by the International Game Fishing Association.

But her team helped her pull the massive marlin aboard - so all the Kailua-Kona angler got was a fish story.

Palmer told The Associated Press that her team wasn't overly concerned about getting disqualified hauling the fish on deck, because they just wanted to land the big catch.

Palmer's fish weighed in at 1,022.5 pounds, well over the record of 950 pounds for a woman using a 130-pound line.

Most of the fish caught during the three-day tournament were released, while those that died would be sold at market for seafood and marlin jerky.

Hurricane Isaac May Come Towards U.S.

The U.S. southeast coast may want to prepare, a tropical storm or hurricane may soon track your way for the first time in 2012. Be it Tropical Storm Isaac or Hurricane Isaac, the storm's path holds high potential for impacting the United States, according to the latest forecast models.

At the moment, it's a yet-to-be named storm, but that's expected to change by Tuesday.

A new tropical depression -- expected to be named Tropical Storm Isaac with potential to become Hurricane Isaac -- formed in the Atlantic Monday, prompting tropical storm warnings to be issued across a swath of islands in the Caribbean.
