9-Year Old Told to Report to Jury Duty

How do we expand the pool of people for jury duty?

Let's start letting kids serve on a jury, and it happenend thisweek in Massachuesetts this week.

"I was like, 'What's a jury duty?'" Jacob Clark  told the Cape Cod Times in response to his summons to appear in Orleans District Court in Massachusetts on April 18.  Oh, I forgot to mention Clark is 9.

His thoughts immediately turned to thinking it could be a good excuse to miss a day of school.

His dad called the jury commission office to find out what happened. It turns out that someone apparently had typed 1982 for the Yarmouth third-grader's birth year instead of 2002.

The mistake was quickly corrected.

Massachusetts Jury Commissioner Pamela Wood says a child gets called for jury duty once or twice a year.

Kindle Free Pick of the Week: The Missing Link

It may not be the best book you ever read, but it will sure keep you entertained.

While civilization is steadily destroying itself, IT cubicle-jockey and cyberspace junkie Brent Porter enlists the help of his grumpy office building security guard, Mickey, to find his missing computer gamer girlfriend, Molly. The trouble is, Molly’s fallen down her laundry basket and into a lewd and confusing world of nonsense, in a retelling of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland with a twist: the heroine is dumped into the deepest, darkest bowels of the Internet.

So while Brent and Mickey are searching for Molly in a city that’s gone to complete chaos, and Molly’s fighting off porn freaks, viruses, and scammers, who’s going to save humanity from the Internet (and itself)? Well, that would be the Downriver Boys, a group of homeless people who’ve never had to rely on technology to survive. These vigilant vagabonds, led by a war veteran and a half-brilliant, half-insane madwoman, will have to rely on everything they know about survival so that Brent, Mickey, and Molly will even have something to come back to.

Anybody want some apples?

The race continues in Azerbaijan, where teams take part in a helicopter-evacuation training exercise. At a Detour, the duos must scrub excess oil off of some very hairy bathers.

NCAA Tournament Plays of the Day for 3/25/12

Kansas and Kentucky

After going 2-0 yesterday, it's time to win two more.

Kansas and North Carolina.  A couple of heavyweights doing battle today in St. Louis.

Both teams haven't played their best in reaching this point and have been pseudo escape artists.

With oddsmakers not sure of North Carolina will be at full-strength, the Tar Heels are getting 2 points.  I still like Kansas to win and cover.  I'm not sure if it is because they are playing close to home in St. Louis, or that they matchup well with North Carolina.

One other trend, not sure if it matters, but North Carolina is 6-20 ATS in their last 26 Sun. games.

Take Kansas and give the 2.

The first game today today is Baylor and Kentucky.

Can any team slow down Kentucky?

On the surface, Baylor appears to have athletes to contain what Kentucky brings to the table.  But the line is up to Kentucky -8.  This is a trap.  They are begging you to take Baylor, don't do it!

The Wildcats are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 NCAA Tournament games as a favorite of 7.0-12.5.  They will win again by double-digits.  Everything Baylor does, Kentucky does better.

It should be a fun game to watch.
