Clips From My Thomas Dolby Interview

Musician Thomas Dolby of "She Blinded Me With Science" fame is back out on tour this Spring and he will be coming to Atlanta on March 20, with a concert at The Loft.

I had the opportunity to talk to him over the weekend about what he's been up and various other topics.

Thought I would post clips of parts of the interview.

Here I ask him about how his music is different now than 30 years ago,

In another question, I ask him about his top-5 hit "She Blinded Me With Science" and how it lives on today in television shows like "The Big Bang Theory".

Enjoy... and let me know if you want to hear addional clips.

Real Life Batman Fights Crime in Slovakia

Zoltan Kohari really is Batman as he fights crime in the southern Slovak town of Dunajska Streda.

Dressed in his home-made, all-leather Batman costume with the bat symbol proudly displayed on his chest and pointy ears on his cowl, Kohari, 26, cleans the streets, helps old people out and calls the police when he sees something suspicious.

There is some irony in this story as Kohari, a house painter spent eight months in jail last year and attempted suicide after he was released, before seeing he had a mission to make life in his community better.

Hohari lives in a run down apartment with no electricity or running water, it's his very own Batcave from where he launches his street patrols.

Kohari says he never resorts to physical violence and some people in his town think he is a bit batty, but his neighbours said he is an honest and good man.

"He's had a tough life but he is very dependable and we like him. He helps us out, keeps an eye on public order, and he is a hero for my son and his schoolmates," said Jana Kocisova, a mother of two who lives in a neighbouring apartment block.

I assume he doesn't have a butler named Alfred.

Say it Ain't So. Larry King is Coming Back

Billionaire Carlos Slim’s wireless carrier America Movil (AMXL) SAB is funding an online TV network that will star former CNN talked host Larry King.

Ora.tv, based in New York, is led by Jon Housman, formerly News Corp.’s president of digital journalism, according to the company’s wesite.  Programming will start later this year, the company said. It didn’t say how much America Movil is investing.

Slim is the world’s richest person according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Ora.tv will not charge a subscription fee and will be wholly dependent on online advertising for revenue, Housman said.

Companies such as Hulu LLC that carry video content online have shown that ads can be lucrative when the programming is original, said Tony Wible, a Philadelphia-based analyst who covers media companies for Janney Montgomery Scott LLC.

King, 78, was a Miami media personality who gained fame across the U.S. with a radio show broadcast from 1978 to 1994, he then went to CNN.

King is once again expected to interview celebrities on the show.

Virus Knocks Tennis Players Out at Indian Wells

You do not want to be on a cruise ship when dysentery breaks out...

                                                 - Booking Agent, Mike LaFontaine in the movie A Mighty Wind

Apparently a tennis tournament isn't the place to be either.

In a statement issued on Sunday, health officials in the Palm Springs area said the virus had spread across the Coachella Valley, resulting in symptoms of nausea, vomiting, fever and diarrhoea.

"It (the virus) is self-limited and lasts between 24 and 48 hours," the Eisenhower Medical Center said. "It is transmitted by air and direct contact and not passed via food.

"... we have seen increases in overall visits to the emergency department by about 15 percent over the past week. We have seen fans and players at the tournament experience these symptoms as well."

Players who have taken ill include:

Vera Zvonareva

Gael Monfils

Jurgen Melzer

Vania King

Philipp Kohlschreiber

Andreas Seppi

Magdalena Rybarikova

Bethanie Mattek-Sands

Kindle Free Pick of the Week: Circle of Bones

Do you love to read big adventure thrillers packed with tales of gold snatched away from Nazis, chase scenes in steaming jungles, even steamier sex scenes, treacherous waterfalls, coded messages buried in dusty journals, and a secret society conspiring to take over the world?

Christine Kling's new Caribbean thriller, CIRCLE OF BONES, is just such a real page-turner based on an actual true mystery of World War II. The French submarine Surcouf, once the largest submarine in the world, departed Bermuda in 1942 and vanished without a trace. In this pulse-pounding thriller, Kling imagines what might have happened in this unsolved mystery.

Solo sailor Maggie Riley is cruising aboard her forty-foot sailboat when she rescues a sexy – but crazy conspiracy-spouting treasure hunter/archeologist who is swimming totally nude off the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe. She soon learns he is searching for the wreck of a mysterious submarine. Cole Thatcher claims the sub holds millions in gold coins as well as secret documents from a powerful inner circle of Skull and Bones whose goal is to keep America at war for their own profits. Cole hopes for Riley's help in decoding his father’s journals that are the key to the location of the wreck.

At last, Riley joins the search for Surcouf when she discovers the demons in her own past intersect the inner Circle of Bones, and this conspiracy nut might not be so crazy after all.
