A Green Jacket to Match the Green Socks

The world watched Bubba Watson put on his green jacket Sunday night after winning The Masters, but how many people realized that the sporty green jacket would match perfectly his Kentwool green socks.

The 169-year-old, family-owned American textile innovator, Kentwool reports that staff player Bubba Watson wore a limited-edition, classic green version of its Tour Profile performance golf sock en route to winning the 2012 Masters.

Wearing Kentwool's proprietary, fatigue-reducing blend of air-infused merino wool, Watson finished regulation tied for the lead at 10-under par. After halving the first hole of a sudden-death playoff, the long-hitting 33-year-old pulled his tee shot into the trees and seemed destined for a runner-up finish. Instead, he carved an astounding wedge shot that settled safely in the center of the green and allowed him to two-putt for victory.

It was one of the most popular wins in the history of the tournament.

"Bubba's an electric, self-taught player who took his game to a completely new level this week and boy was it fun to watch," says Mark Kent, CEO and President of Kentwool. "To have one of our guys, and someone who's such an outstanding person, win a dramatic Masters is certainly a high point for me personally, and for our growing business of making the world's best golf sock."

The South Carolina based company recently introduced its limited-edition sock ($19.95) exclusively at www.kentwoolsocks.com to commemorate the season's first major. Offered while supplies last through April 30, this model has a distinctive green base color highlighted by yellow heel and toe patterns with red brand accents. Crafted from a proprietary blend of fine merino wool and high-tech fibers for superior moisture management, the socks are Made in the USA and come with a 100 percent blister-free guarantee.

"I've never had a dream go this far, so I can't really say it's a dream come true," said Watson. "I got into those trees in the playoff and hit a crazy shot that I saw in my head and somehow I'm here with a green jacket on."

Featuring WINDspun technology that infuses the fibers with air, KENTWOOL Golf Socks have an innovative, micro-climate system that wick moisture and provide superior odor control. This creates unrivaled cushioning at micro-stress points along the foot, enhancing comfort and energy levels while reducing injury risk.  The sock is comfortable and functional.

Retailing from $19.95 to $24.95, KENTWOOL golf socks are available in the ankle-length Tour and Low Profile models for both genders and mid-calf Tour Standard crafted exclusively for men.

In addition to Watson they are worn in competition by scores of Tour stars worldwide, including Matt Kuchar, Jonathan Byrd, Ryann O'Toole, Peter Jacobsen, Duffy Waldorf, Brendon de Jonge, Tom Gillis, Jane Park, Charles Warren, Kevin Johnson, Kristy McPherson, Shasta Averyhardt, Jenny Suh, Sarah Kemp, Jenny Gleason, Meaghan Francella and Jenny Hong.

Like Bubba Watson, I wore my limited edition Kentwool green socks last week.  While I wasn't able to put on a green jacket, I felt like a champion in them.

RickLimpert.info Picture of the Week: Prince Charl of Augusta

Charl Schwartzel shocked the world by winning The Masters today.

He got hot at the right time and finished with four consecutive birdies to finish his round.

His final putt from 20 feet curled into the side of the cup for a 6-under 66, the best closing round at the Masters in 22 years. It gave the 26-year-old South African a two-shot victory over Australians Adam Scott and Jason Day.
