How Ironic - Water Tank Floods Atlanta Boat Show

If there was ever a safe place for a 200,000 gallon water tank to burst, it would have to be the Atlanta Boat Show.  In theory, those trapped by the raging water could take refuge on any of the 100s of boats on display and sail to safety.

This unbelievable video shows those on the show floor running for cover as the show was set to open at the World Congress Center in Atlanta.

The tank that burst was to be used for a wakeboarding demonstration.

Thailand Experiencing Worst Flooding in 50 Years

Bangkok authorities insisted on Tuesday they could not ease the flooding crisis for everyone in the city, as anger and misery grew in inundated areas over the lack of assistance from officials.

Although inner areas of the capital have remained dry, the situation is critical in several outlying districts, where residents have protested that their homes are being sacrificed to save central parts of the city.
Thailand's worst flooding in decades, triggered by unusually heavy monsoon rains that began three months ago, have claimed more than 380 lives and affected the homes and livelihoods of millions across the country.

Central Bangkok has largely been spared from major inundation after barriers along Bangkok's swollen Chao Phraya River prevented a major overflow during a spring high tide over the weekend.

But in districts such as western Bang Phlat, just five kilometres from downtown Bangkok, homes were badly damaged and streets turned into deep canals of filthy water, with no official help in sight.

Two Typhoons Hit The Philippines

The Philippines and its residents are bracing for another powerful storm expected to dump massive amounts of rain over the same area just flooded by Typhoon Nerat.

Forecasters say the new storm, Typhoon Nalgae, will hit the main island of Luzon Saturday morning. They say Nalgae has intensified rapidly and now bears winds of more than 200 kilometers per hour.

Officials are warning residents to be take precautions and stay alert to the storm's progress.

More than 40 people were killed and 30 more remain missing when the first storm went through the region this week. The storm downed trees and caused huge waves that crashed over seawalls in Manila, flooding a hospital, several businesses and the U.S. embassy.

Heavy rains also caused widespread flooding that has yet to recede in some areas.

Irene Moves Up the East Coast to NYC

Hurricane Irene will deliver a storm surge of up to 8 feet, rainfall of up to 15 inches and isolated tornadoes as it churns toward New York City over the next several hours, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said on Sunday.

Irene remains a Category 1, the lowest level of hurricane classification, with maximum sustained winds near 75 miles per hour, the hurricane center said.

Many are without power.

About 3.3 million customers lost power in the East Coast on Sunday as Hurricane Irene lashed the U.S. East Coast.

Close to 600,000 customers lost power within a half hour early on Sunday morning as the Category One hurricane pummeled the region and loomed close to New York City.

Con Edison, which supplies power to 3 million customers in New York City, had not reached a decision to shut off power to lower Manhattan early on Sunday.

This short clip gives you an idea of how strong Irene was as it hit the Carolinas.  Always dramatic to see a boat get blown away.
