Neighborwoods Etches Your City on Wood

This company has "got wood."

And your city etched on it.

If you love vintage maps, this might be for you. There is something magical about hand-drawn and hand-lettered maps. So Neighborwoods was created.

Hand-drawn and laser engraved into unfinished aromatic cedar, Neighborwoods capture the story of your city, including all of its neighborhoods and key statistics. The cedar's natural wood grain characteristics set off the engraved typography and hand-drawn details.

Every map is unique, just like your treasured stories from your neighborhood. Keep an eye out for more releases in the near future.

Welcome to the Neighborwood!

Thailand Experiencing Worst Flooding in 50 Years

Bangkok authorities insisted on Tuesday they could not ease the flooding crisis for everyone in the city, as anger and misery grew in inundated areas over the lack of assistance from officials.

Although inner areas of the capital have remained dry, the situation is critical in several outlying districts, where residents have protested that their homes are being sacrificed to save central parts of the city.
Thailand's worst flooding in decades, triggered by unusually heavy monsoon rains that began three months ago, have claimed more than 380 lives and affected the homes and livelihoods of millions across the country.

Central Bangkok has largely been spared from major inundation after barriers along Bangkok's swollen Chao Phraya River prevented a major overflow during a spring high tide over the weekend.

But in districts such as western Bang Phlat, just five kilometres from downtown Bangkok, homes were badly damaged and streets turned into deep canals of filthy water, with no official help in sight.

Phoenix: The Dust Storm Capital of the Country

Another dust storm covered the Phoenix area Thursday night and generated punishing winds reaching nearly 60 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

Gusts downed trees at least a foot thick and ripped a roof off of a house, prompted the National Weather Service to issue a severe thunderstorm warning. The storm also has created hail.

Strong gusts from a microburst downed power lines, cutting power for nearly 2,000 Eloy area residents. Microbursts have reportedly blown out windows in vehicles and caused minor injuries due to power lines falling on vehicles.

The blowing dust blanketed much of the Valley Thursday night, reducing visibility to less than a quarter mile.
