College Football Play of the Day for 11/12/11: Auburn

One day removed from 11/11/11, it's a big day for college football.

Two old rivals meet today in Athens, GA.  Georgia and Auburn.

Georgia is on a tear, winning seven straight games.  They need this win to almost wrap up the SEC East title.  Auburn is 6-3, but only 1-3 on the road.

The problem is Georgia is handing Auburn way too many points with the 13-point line.

I know it's not the same Auburn team as last year, but they are 13-3 ATS in their last 16 conference games.

Georgia is 3-9 ATS vs. a team with a winning record, not great.

In the end, I like Georgia to win the game, but not by 13.  Take Auburn and the points.

Snakes on a Highway

Georgia wildlife officials are investigating after 10 snakes and three lizards were found in a car during a traffic stop on Interstate 75 north of Atlanta.

Authorities say Cherokee County sheriff's deputies pulled the car over on Interstate 75 Monday.

An Indiana driver had 10 snakes and three different lizard species in the car.

The snakes were determined not to be venomous.  The species included corn, coachwhip, pine, king andSouthern hognose snakes - all native to Georgia - plus a rosy boa, a non-native snake.

Authorities said the driver told them he caught the snakes in Florida and was taking them to Indiana. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service also is investigating why this was taking place.

Georgia and Boise St. Kick Off the Tennis Season Before Football

Yes, that's right, as a prelude to the Georgia/Boise St. Kick Off Classic Football game that will be played Saturday night at the sold out Georgia Dome, the men's tennis teams from the two schools took to the court in a little more quiet environment at the Atlanta Athletic Club to play some tennis.

Four singles, and two doubles matches were contested.

Each team won three matches.

4. Nathan Pasha (UGA) def. Aidan Reid (BSU), 6-0, 6-2

Georgia features Wil Spencer.  Spencer is one of the top college players in the country and Boise's James Meredith is a fine player in his own right.  Also, I expect big things this year and in the future from Georgia freshman, Nathan Pasha, what a debut from him.

Hines Ward Arrested After Early Morning DUI

Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver Hines Ward was arrested early Saturday in Georgia on a drunken driving charge, sheriff's officials said.

The Super Bowl MVP and reigning "Dancing With the Stars" champ was booked into the DeKalb County jail just outside Atlanta at 3:41 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence. He was released on $1,300 bond.

No other details were released by the county.

A Steelers spokesman did not immediately respond to a message, and it was not immediately clear if Ward had an attorney.

Since being drafted in the third round out of Georgia in 1998, the 35-year-old Ward has been a four-time Pro Bowl selection and won two Super Bowls.

Dancing with professional partner Kym Johnson, Ward in May became the second professional football player to win the "Dancing" crown after Emmitt Smith won in 2006. He bested actresses Kirstie Alley and Chelsea Kane to become the season 12 champion of the TV celebrity dance competition.

He was stopped by police during the time he was in L.A. with "Dancing With the Stars" while driving, but nothing came of it.
