Gorilla-Costumed Marathoner Completes Course

The London Marathon started on 24 April but Tom Harrison, one of the participants, was able to finish it only on 29 April.

It's not that he's a slow runner. It's just that he crawled through the race. Yes! Harriason crawled through the race wearing his gorilla suit.

The man dubbed Mr Gorilla is raising money for the Gorilla Organisation. So far more than 22,000 pounds (28,500 US dollars) have been pledged. The 41-year-old crossed the finish line with his two sons walking beside him on Saturday.

Harrison says the money will be used to protect endangered gorillas in Africa.

A 17-Mile Half Marathon

Runners kept running, but it had to seem longer.

Some 6,000 runners took part in the race and everyone — even those who didn't finish — will get a special jersey to wear like a badge of pride, said Songkram Kraison, vice president of the Jogging Association of Thailand, one of the event's two organizers.

"The T-shirt will say, 'Finisher of 27.6 km,'" Songkram told The Associated Press. "The shirts are meant to apologize and also to honor runners who ran in the longer version of the half-marathon."

The Jogging Association of Thailand's website posted a statement Tuesday saying it will send the shirts by mail within 45 days.

Boston Marathon on Monday

Should be an emotional Boston Marathon again this year.
