Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas Last Night on DWTS

It was an intense Paso Doble, but the crowd loved it last night on Dancing With the Stars.

Mark Ballas and Chelsea Kane warmed up the dance floor with help from Mark's mom who helped choreograph the routine.

Was it too hot?  Judge for yourself.

Dancing With the Stars: Hines Continues to Be MVP

It's Guilty Pleasures Week on Dancing With the Stars and that means either you're going to love the music or you're going to hate it.

I'm not sure what to expect from the dancers this week, but if the pros have a little more latitude in choreographing their routines that plays right into the hands of Mark Ballas and Maks as they know how to get the most out of their partners.

Up first tonight is Kirstie Alley and Maks.  They will be doing a Samba and it looks like they put in a lot of hard work during the week.  They will be dancing to Britney Spears, and they did ok.  It looked like Kirstie had a little trouble keeping up with Maks.  Len liked it, Bruno thought it was smooth and Carrie Ann was impressed as well.  They get a surprising 26 out of 30.

Next on the floor, Chris Jericho and Cheryl.  They get the Tango and dance to a Journey hit.  They started out a bit stiff and had a hard time recovering from it.  Carrie Ann thought it was actually a bit boring.  They get a 22.

Romeo and Chelsie Hightower are up next.  Romeo had his best performance last week.  Surprisingly they dance to a Celine Dion song.  He's setting his sights on Hines Ward and he wants 10's.  Carrie Ann thought it was "magical", Len thought he showed maturity.  They receive a 28 for their waltz.

Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas are next.  Mark injured his ankle during rehearsal, but he's giving it a go.  The perform to Katrina and the Waves.  Mark tries tapping into Chelsea's competitive side to improve her scores.  They did great, Chelsea kept right up with Mark.  A lot of fun and well done.  They earn a 28 and get a 10 from Carrie Ann.

Kendra and Louis are up next.  Kendra improved and looked confident last week.  She really needs a good Samba this week to have a chance to come back next week.  They dance to Ricky Martin.  Kendra really shakes it.  A high energy performance.  Her technique needs a little work, but she still gets a 25.
Here we go with Hines Ward and Kym.  He's been doing real well.  They dance to Boyz to Men.  Hines puts in a lot of practice time, so of which includes dancing with a pillow.  He's really natural out there on the dance floor.  Bruno says it's a pleasure to watch Bruno.  They get a 27.

Lastly, it's Ralph and Karina.  Ralph needs to regain the form he had in the first two weeks.  He hit rock-bottom last week.  They have the Paso this week to get back in the game.  A different look to a Paso, but the crowd loved it.  A small fall happened, but they still delivered an intense dance.  They get a 24.

Results show tomorrow night.

What Could be Better than Bristol Palin and Three Dog Night?

As if the hit ABC television show Dancing With the Stars needed any more publicity, it will get its share this season with teen mom Bristol Palin joining the cast. It looks to me like Bristol could be ready to pick up where Kate Gosselin left off last season.

While Kate was a complete train wreck on the show with her complete inability to dance and her sour attitude, the general public appears to be giving Bristol a chance. How long that will last is the question.

Bristol is paired with the mild mannered Mark Ballas, and Mark is the perfect partner for her. While reports say Bristol was a little apprehensive at first on how she should be portrayed on the show, the best advice I could give her is to follow Mark Ballas' lead. Mark is a show vet, and former champion, he will know what's best.

Word has already leaked out that on Monday night's opener, Bristol and Mark will dance to of all things, Three Dog Night's, "Mama Told Me Not to Come."  Maybe Bristol and her camp is embracing the lightheartedness and fun aspects of the show.

Some questions still remain. Will Bristol be this season's diva? Can she actually dance? How conservative will the outfits she wears be, and will Mark tone down the dance moves? One question that will be answered on Monday night is will her mom, the former Governor of Alaska be present? The answer is yes, Sarah Palin will be in the audience.

The show producers will make a spectacle out of this. I personally think that Sarah Palin would've been the better choice to compete this season, but with her schedule and goings on it would've been tough.  The show really doesn't need any help for ratings.  it will be the #1 show and probably draw bigger audiences tha never.

While I don't think Bristol and Mark will take the trophy, I'm sure show executives hope she stays on for a few weeks like Kate did.  Let's hope Bristol is a better dancer than Kate, or the late-night talk shows will have a field day.

Notice how I didn't even mention Levi Johnston in the article.
