Jawbone UP Review Part 1: Sleep Results

The Jawbone UP

I've been testing a Jawbone UP for the better part of a week now and it is an interesting device to play around with.

I know the company has said there have been many problems with it and they are offering a replacement or refund, but mine is still working.

It tracks your activity throughout the day and night, including your sleep.

I find this the most interesting feature so far as I'm always concerned about the quality of sleep I'm getting.

Each morning I sync the Jawbone bracelet with my iPad and it produces a bunch of results from the previous day to review.

Here is what a night of sleep might look like.

This was my night of sleep from the night of Dec. 6 to the morning of Dec. 7.  It's scary accurate as I read for about a 30 minutes before I fell asleep and woke up once around 5am or so.

I don't know what this all means for me big picture, but I usually get 6-7 hours of sleep each night most of it is deep sleep, which is good.  My sleep quality for this night was 89, which was down a few points from the previous nights.

I'm still testing other features of the UP and each day I'm looking to see how accurate is is.

Once they get all the kinks worked out, for $99 it's a pretty cool little thing to have.

Big Hyundai Recall

Hyundai is voluntarily recalling 139,500 of its Sonata sedans in the U.S. because steering columns in some of the vehicles may not have been properly assembled.

The manufacturing defect means steering column connections could become unattached, causing drivers to lose control of the vehicles, according to the National Highway Transportation Safety Board's Web site.

The affected automobiles were manufactured between Dec. 11, 2009 through Sept. 10, 2010.

Hyundai dealers will inspect the steering columns of those automobiles and update the power steering software free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in October.

In February, Hyundai also recalled 47,000 Sonata sedans following customer complaints that some front-door latches didn't close properly.
